Arsenal: The Gunners Are In For A Long Season

Hello,

The Gunners had a perfectly uninspiring match against Sunderland yesterday. They kick off their EPL season with a lackluster 0-0 tie. Fittingly the home crowd booed, which might have been the most passion shown the whole day at Emirates Stadium. Watching the match yesterday and seeing the signs "In Arsene We Trust", I wondered how many Gunners fans shared that same view?

Oliver Giroud appeared to have Arsenal's best chance at scoring near the end of the match. He had a pretty clear shot from about 10 yards out, but wasn't even able to test the goalie with his kick. Arsenal seemed to miss the scoring touch of Dutchman Robin Van Persie, which isn't too much of a surprise. After all he did lead the EPL with 30 goals last season.

Speaking of Van Persie, how is he and Wayne Rooney going to combine for Manchester United? The top two scorers in EPL last season on the same team. It will be interesting to see how they play when they play Everton tomorrow. Defending EPL champion Manchester City plays today against Southampton.

If you are picking a team to win the EPL that doesn't have Manchester in their team name, I think you are crazy. And I think Arsenal would be lucky to match last season's third place finish.
