(Started May 30th, 2020) Random Angry Song Post!! Part 2

Hello,

Protesting is good and healthy, but rioting is about as dumb as can be. Not only is rioting stupid, but it's actually anti-productive. The story then becomes the rioting rather than what was originally being protested. Remember this is about George Floyd and way too many people injured and killed for doing things while being black. Here's some catharsis to help you relieve some anger.

Justice for George!!!

I'm in the mood for some rock music tonight.

20) Shinedown "Sound of Madness":

(Finished May 25th, 2020) The Ten Best Musicians of the 80s, Part 5: Whitney Houston

Happy Memorial Day,

I'll get to Part 4 soon for Elton John.

I was chilling on YouTube today when I stumbled across a Prince concert, which always makes me think of how great of a musician, singer, performer, songwriter etc he was. (Let's be honest, he wasn't a very good actor.) I wanted to write a blog about the Top Ten musicians of the 80s. But I wanted to rely on someone else's Top Ten, so I Googled my way around the internet. One list had The Beastie Boys as #1, another list had Kenny Rogers as #1- um, no and no. Don't get me wrong I love both of those artists, but neither are even close to #1. I came across a udiscovermusic.com blog about The Top Ten Superstars of the 80s. I may have a few quibbles with their Top Ten, but overall it's a pretty good list.

Other musicians that should be considered for any Top Ten 80s musicians include RUN-D.M.C., Def Leppard, U2, George Michael, R.E.M., Duran Duran (or as the kids called them back in the day Duran squared), Journey, Tina Turner, Van Halen, Ozzy, The Boss and so many others.

Here, in no particular order, is udiscovermusic.com's Top 10 80s artists. It should be obvious which musicians are the ones I like the most. Yes, Miss Houston is one of those musicians. She had a mix of grace, beauty and that amazing voice that no one will ever top. She also picked great songs or had people help pick great songs for her. Great talent with great songs made her one of the Top Ten 80s musicians.

1) "You Give Good Love":

2) "Someone For Me":

3) "Saving All My Love For You":

4) "How Will I Know":

5) "All At Once":

6) "Greatest Love of All":

With Teddy Pendergrass 7) "Hold Me":

8) "I Wanna Dance With Somebody":

9) "Just The Lonely Talking Again":

10) "Didn't We Almost Have It All":

11) "So Emotional":

12) "Where You Are":

13) "Love Is A Contact Sport":

14) "Where Do Broken Hearts Go":

15) "I Know Him So Well":

Whitney was a pretty average live performer, but this performance captures one of her best live performances. 16) "One Moment In Time":

featuring Jermaine Jackson 17) "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do":

18) "Do You Hear What I Hear":

19) "Love Will Save The Day":

20) "You're Still My Man":

(Finished August 2nd, 2020) Selected Ranked Songs Every Year I've Been Alive Part Nine: 1986

Hello,

These are the greatest songs of 1986 for all genres. I spent a few hours finding these songs. 1986 was a pretty big year for me, it was the year that I went to Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho for the second semester. I might still be on academic probation at what now is Brigham Young-Idaho. Honestly due to the cold, wind, poorly located and isolated location I was not a big fan of my 6 months in Rexburg. That's okay as I eventually graduated from the University of Utah in 1997. My first brush of college honestly was a struggle for me. I somehow survived and it eventually turned out to be a great learning experience for me. It was a time for firsts for me.

Then after working at a summer job I went on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ (aka The Mormons) and served in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. I returned in 1988 and........

Here are the greatest songs of 1986. If a song was released as a single I went with that year as the release date. Some of these songs were released on a CD in 1985, but not released as a single until 1986. I counted those as a song from 1986. Those songs with a number are where that song ended on Billboard's Year End Chart of 1986.

1986:
100) Stevie Wonder "Go Home":

99) Toto "I'll Be Over You":

96) The Thompson Twins "King For A Day":

One of the great ballads of the 80s. 95) Force MD's "Tender Love":

94) Daryl Hill "Dreamtime":

A song that's perfectly fine, but it's also a generic 80s dance song. It's a middle of the pack song and I don't even remember this song. 93) Starpoint "Object of My Desire":

92) Paul McCartney "Spies Like Us":

91) The Moody Blues "Your Wildest Dreams":

85) Regina "Baby Love":

One of the most underrated songs of the 80s. 82) Rod Stewart "Love Touch":

81) The Cars "Tonight She Comes":

79) Miami Sound Machine "Bad Boy":

It's songs like this by the Queen of the 80s that makes me wish I could go back to the 80s. What a great decade for music and so many other things. Girls in Guess Jeans for instance.
76) Madonna "True Blue":

One of the great underrated 80s songs, I love this song!! 75) Michael McDonald "Sweet Freedom":

Okay the original music video is incredibly hokey, but the song is fire!!
70) Mike and the Mechanics "Silent Running":

This song has an amazing beginning and the rest of the song is pretty great as well!!
69) Van Halen "Why Can't This Be Love":

68) Cameo "Word Up!"
