(Finished 9/11/2021) Part 1 of The Best 9/11 Songs and The Best Sad Songs (Is There A Difference?)

Hello,

I went and saw Little Big Town in concert last night and they were great. THAT'S what I wanted to write about. However......

I didn't want to write this blog. But after reading so many heart felt tributes I wanted to add to that growing list of thoughts. I've compiled a list of the best 9/11 songs and the best sad songs. Those two things aren't that dissimilar. I'm going to alternate the sad songs with the 9/11 songs, see if you can tell the difference.

This tribute to Syd Barrett could also serve as a tribute to all the victims of 9/11 and their families.

1) Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here":

2) Bruce Springsteen "The Rising":

3) Terry Jacks "Seasons In The Sun":

4) The Weepies "Safe As Houses":

5) Elton Johns "Sad Songs (Say So Much)":

How Mary Chapin Carpenter came to write the below song. 6) Mary Chapin Carpenter "Grand Central Station":

7) Billy Ocean "There Will Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)":

8) Neil Young "Let's Roll":

9) Lana Del Rey "Summertime Sadness":

Actually written before 9/11 but still a great tribute to New York, warts and all. This video was shot four days before of the momentous events of 9/11. 10) Ryan Adams "New York New York":

11) Sinead O'Connor "Nothing Compares 2 U":

12) Leonard Cohen "On That Day":

13) Elton John "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues":

14) The Cranberries "New New York":

15) Massive Attack "Teardrop":

16) Ministry "Lies Lies Lies":

17) Simon and Garfunkel "The Boxer":
