Max Contract For Dwight Howard? Are You Kidding Me?

Hello,

I so enjoyed watching the Thunder eviscerate the Lakers last night. Yes, I realize that the Lakers make a late run and that Kobe Bryant was tremendous. But don't forget the Thunder scored the last 12 points of the game. It's almost like they were playing with the Lakers. It  makes me laugh how much the TNT announcers hype up the Lakers, it's like their paychecks are tied to the Lakers making the playoffs. Did they forget this Lakers team is 9th place in the Western Conference and 2.5 games out of the playoffs? They'll be lucky to make the playoffs at all. Even if they do they'll be quickly dismissed.

Leave it to the always refreshing and candid Charles Barkley to keep it real. He says what few national pundits dare to say, this season's Lakers team is a mess. He's not trying to blow smoke up anyone's butt nor is he delusional about the quality of the Lakers. But he's the lone man in the wilderness when it comes to the Lakers. Can we please stop talking about the Lakers when they fail to make the playoffs? Please?

Kobe Bryant is an all-time talent, however Bryant is essentially a one man team. I'll always give much respect to Bryant. He's pretty much everything that Dwight Howard isn't. If the Lakers didn't have Bryant they'd be the overpaid, underachieving West Coast Bobcats. Does anyone else on that roster scare you, no me either. The only people Ron Arrest scares anymore is Lakers fan when he rises up to shoot.

With much hype, see above cover, Howard came over in a trade from the Orlando Magic. With the Lakers acquiring him and Nash, some people were starting to predict this Lakers team would win the NBA title. However like most things where hype is involved, those crazy expectations were way off. Remember people only use hype when they are trying to hide how bad something is. Hype is the modern day replacement for smoke and mirrors.

Howard continues to be a disappointment as the Lakers continue to talk signing him to a max contract. Really? I'm sorry I wouldn't want Howard anywhere near my team. Let's review his performance from last night, he played 37 minutes. I really want to make a sarcastic comment about his "playing", but I'm trying to be nice. Howard made 1 of 7 shots, grabbed 16 rebounds and exploded for 6 points. (Hey but Howard did make 4 of his 8 free throw attempts!) It reminds me of the old joke people make about mediocre players. "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him." bada bing Besides his usual anemic offensive performance, Howard also played his usual anemic and lackluster defense. He was caught out of position several times leading to many easy Thunder baskets. I'm not even going to mention all the drama he brings and how injury prone he is. LA do you really still want to sign this imposter to a max contract?

And Howard is already talking about being part of the 2016 USA Men's Olympic Team. Really? If he gets an invite it would only be due to courtesy invite.

I agree that Howard is an amazing rebounder and is dominant in that category. However at best he's only mediocre in the rest of his game. People keep on thinking he's going to return to his dominant form of a couple of years ago, but he isn't. Again he's a great rebounder. But great rebounding alone should never earn someone a max contract. #stopthehype
