I went out on my normal morning walk and a song by Eisley played. They probably are a band that relatively few people have heard of, which I think is a shame. If you're a "Star Wars" fan, you probably recognize the name of Eisley. The full name of the city is Mos Eisley and as Obi-Wan Kenobi said of that city it's a "wretched hive of scum and villainy".
But Eisley has no scum or villainy in it's music, their music is full of happiness and joy. Their first CD is the pure sugar rush of sweet melodies and harmonies. That 2005 CD "Room Noises" has some of the most pleasant to the ear songs ever created.
That CD didn't really break them into the national scene, in fact I'm not even sure how I found out about Eisley. Since the amazing "Room Noises", the career of Eisley has meandered. There have been four more CDs and a few personnel changes along the way. Their most recent CD, 2017's "I'm Only Dreaming" seems to be more of a return to the form that made "Room Noises" so great. I was pleasantly surprised with "Dreaming" while listening to it this morning. Although after a thorough lesson I can only give that CD an A grade. It's not a good thing that the CD was released 18 months ago and the first I'm hearing of it was in my research today.
Eisley's website, eisley.com, is barely functioning. The first thing one sees when going to that website is advertising for that CD that was released 18 months ago. They have a mailing list and a store, which I expect doesn't get much business. They do have Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. But their Instagram's last post was early September, 2018. They don't even make the effort to post a Happy Thanksgiving wish?
Well if nothing else happens for them we'll always have the sublime joys of "Room Noises" to enjoy.
