Not all of these songs are currently on my iPod, although some of them are. Some of them have been on my iPod in the past and some of them might be in the future. These are lesser known songs that I don't think get enough love. Not that many people read my blog, but I do want to give these great songs as much exposure as possible.
And yes I still do have an iPod, it's music without the distractions of an iPhone.

Inspired by the first episode of "Peacemaker" and it's mid-level hair metal soundtrack I wanted to post a blog about crunchy and sleazy rock songs. I found quite a few songs from Leighton and Tracey Stead's 80's and 90's Glam Sleaze and Rock 'N Roll YouTube collection of videos.
As for the "Peacemaker" show there's a lot of language and sexual storylines. I was less than impressed by the first episode. I wasn't much impressed with "Peacemaker", but new to Prime is "Reacher". I watched the first three episodes of it the other night. It was plenty of action and Reacher is much easier to root for than shallow Peacemaker.
I've been wanting to do a blog series like this for awhile. I will pick five or more songs from 1953 to 2022. I would've started an earlier year but I'm not very familiar with songs of the years up to 1952. In 1952 I was still 15 years from being born, please forgive me for my lack of knowledge. 1953 is the first year I actually know six songs by title alone. I'll be posting anywhere between five to ten to who knows songs for each year. As these blogs continue I find more songs that I can't find a reason to leave off the list. So much for the five to ten songs for each year.
1959, Part 1:
From that perfectly sung "they", this song is a classic in every way possible. 1) The Platters "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes":
2) Johnny Horton "Ballad of New Orleans":
3) Elvis Presley "Now and Then There's A Fool Such As I":

Guess which show I watched a couple of episodes tonight? Nope not that show, it was "Cold Case". :)
"Cold Case" was a law procedural TV series from 2003-2010. The show is on HBO Max and Roku TV. I'm so glad that it's back. It was one of my favorite shows when it was first broadcast and it's still one of my favorite shows. What a great cast, starting with the lovely Kathryn Morris. Other great actors include Justin Chambers, Danny Pino, John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford and Thom Barry. Great stories, great actors and great characters. One of the best things is how well the show mixes music in with the stories. That excellent mixing of story and music are able to make both better. Here are some of the best songs featured in season one.
Thanks to tunefind.com for these songs. If you want to find out the title to any song from a movie or TV show just head over to tunefind.com. I've used that website many times for this blog and to answer my own questions.
These songs are from Season 1, episodes 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14.
The way this song closed out Season 1, episode 8 "Fly Away" is masterful. Again the mix of music and the stories is amazing. 40) DJ Sammy featuring Yanou & Do "Heaven":

There's no I in team, but there these songs all feature I in the title. So far 95% of the songs that I have found the I in the title is the first letter. I really have looked for songs with I in the title other than the first letter. I noticed that P!nk who doesn't used i in her name seems to have the most song titles with i in them.
Speaking of I, I love this song. 1) Elton John "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues":
2) James Ingram "I Don't Have The Heart":
3) Ozzy Osbourne "I Don't Know":
4) Black Box "I Don't Know About Anybody Else":
One of the very few songs that has an I in the middle of the title. However this song also has a title at the start of the song. 5) R.E.M. "I Don't Sleep, I Dream":
6) Total Coelo "I Eat Cannibals":
7) Prince "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man":
One of my favorite I songs of all-time. 8) Darius Rucker "Don't Think I Don't Think About That":

This is another blog inspired by music from "Reacher". Oscar Finlay is a man that loves a good old 80s rock jam, meanwhile Reacher is more of a Blues guy. Two different blog series have been inspired by music from "Reacher". First it was classic ballads inspired by "Crazy". Now it's mostly great 80s rock inspired by "Carry On My Wayward Son" and "Caught Up In You". I so love hearing these songs again, they bring back so many memories. Thankfully most of those memories are great.
Currently I'm working hard on my Top Ten Grunge bands blog. I have discovered the music of Tad and L7- both artists which I like. I also discovered I like Nirvana more than I thought, although they are still very much overrated.

These are musicians that died way too young and some of their best songs, whether hits or not. I tried to go with lesser known bands for the most part.
A Laura Branigan YouTube video about singers who died too long inspired this blog. Laura Branigan was my favorite of the musicians listed. These are musicians that died way too young and some of their best songs, whether hits or not. I tried to go with lesser known singers for the most part, but I was also in the mood for some of The Doors, which is the second blog in this series.
What do Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, John Bonham, Selena, Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Jim Morrison all have in common? They all died way too young. What have we missed out by not having these legends living a normal life span? How many more slinky and funky songs could have Michael Hutchence come up with if he had lived longer? How many more classic songs could've Patsy Cline added her unique touch to? How many more amazing songs did Led Zeppelin have in them if John Bonham hadn't died at the too young age of 32? His death is the main reason that the mighty Zep broke up. It's a tragedy all of these amazing musicians died so young, but it's also a tragedy all the great music they left behind.
15) Karen Carpenter died at the age of 32.
"Ticket To Ride":
"They Long To Be Close To You":
"We've Only Just Begun":
"Rainy Days and Mondays":
"Superstar":
"Sing": "Yesterday Once More":
"Top Of The World":
"There's A Kind of Hush":
"Calling Interplanetary":
16) Whitney Houston died at the age of 48. I know she hadn't been as successful as the earlier part of her career, but maybe she could have had a late career resurgence. All songs below are by Whitney Houston, with other singers as noted.
"I Didn't Know My Own Strength":
"Just The Lonely Talking Again":
"Greatest Love Of All":
"You Give Good Love":
"Saving All My Love For You":
"One Moment In Time":
" I Wanna Dance With Somebody":
"How Will I Know";
"So Emotional":
"All At Once":
"Where Do Broken Hearts Go":
"Love Is A Contact Sport":
Cissy and Whitney Houston "I Know Him So Well":
Whitney "My Love Is Your Love";
"Didn't We Almost Have It All":
17) Tammi Terrell died at the age of 24. When she died all that potential died with her. Tammi Terrell's story is sadder than most.
This is the story of Tammi Terrell:
Her biggest hits of course were with Marvin Gaye like on "Ain't No Mountain High Enough":
Tammi Terrell all by herself "All I Do Is Think About You":
Tammi Terrell "I Can't Believe You Love Me":
Tammi Terrell "Come On And See Me":
Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell "You're All I Need To Get By":

Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You":

I had a sort of down day yesterday and I'm not sure why. I knew on this Sunday I needed a good walk, the restorative, soothing feelings of church and some joyful music. I was able to get the first two and now I'm getting the third. I'm sharing that joy with you. I hope you get some joy from these songs.
