(Started April 30th, 2022) The Best Twenty-Eight Funk/ Soul/ Rap Songs of 1982

Hello,

I've been wanting to do a blog series like this for awhile.

I'll pick five or more songs from 1953 to 2022. I would've started an earlier year but I'm not very familiar with songs of the years up to 1952. In 1952 I was still 15 years from being born, please forgive me for my lack of knowledge. 1953 is the first year I actually know six songs by title alone. I'll be posting anywhere between five to ten to who knows songs for each year. As these blogs continue I find more songs that I can't find a reason to leave off the list. So much for the five to ten songs for each year.

Sometimes I like to organize these blogs by genre. The main problem with that is some songs could be genre defying. Just what genre is Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's "Hooked On Classics". Some songs can be multiple genres. I would argue The Go-Go's could be rock or pop. Also some bands have songs that could be considered multiple genres, see Journey, Foreigner and a few other bands. So admitting all those issues I tried to be as consistent as possible.

The best songs with "love" in the title. What does love mean in a pop or rock lyric? Peter Cetera's "The Glory of Love" is the first song that comes to mind when true love is the thought. Sometimes it's as simple love means love. But also sometimes love means a great deal of excitement/passion for something. See "I Love The Nightlife". But in most rock song lyrics love means sex. See Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love"- that song is only about sex. Also love is something that has to be overcome as in Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield".

(Finished April 20th, 2022) Part 4 of The Ten Best Grunge Bands: More Lesser Known Grunge Bands

Hello,

Watching the show "Super Pumped", which is the story of Uber.  Three Pearl Jam songs were played in the first episode. With Nirvana's "Something In The Way" being in "The Batman" grunge seems to be having a moment. This is more likely a blip than something that will be prolonged. I've loved listening to so many great classic grunge songs in the last couple of days. Grunge wasn't around very long, but it did make an impact.  I Googled the question how long did the grunge era last? I came across the answer that it died out about 1996, That's very accurate in my opinion. This first blog is I'll be sharing songs by lesser known/ obscure grunge bands. 

Spoiler alert: Nirvana is not my #1 grunge band, neither are they my #2 or #3 grunge band.
