(Finished July 31st, 2022) Part 3 of 1984: The Year of Prince & Other Amazing Black Musicians

Hello,

"Dearly beloved we are gathered here to get through this thing called life..." Prince's spoken word begins the song "Let's Go Crazy", one of the most electric starts to a CD ever. "Purple Rain" has gone on to be one of the best CDs of all-time overall and the greatest soundtrack ever. It's hard to believe this CD came out 38 years ago, it sounded way ahead of it's time then and still sounds a bit ahead of it's time now.

1984 was such an incredibly amazing year for music all of kinds, did all of these songs really come out the same year?

35) Debarge "Time Will Reveal":

36) Kool and the Gang "Tonight":

(Finished July 30th, 2022) Part 2 of The Best Workout Songs

Hello,

What makes a great work out song? Obviously it should be upbeat. It should inspire, motivate, get someone completely revved up and ready to go. Most mornings I go out walking and I love my walks. I absolutely love my walks on these summer mornings- right before it gets hot. Many of these songs have propelled my walks to better workouts. The more words I know in a song the better, singing along with a song really kicks up the energy.

18) C + C Music Factory "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)":

19) Cascada "Everytime We Touch":

20) The Black Keys "Gold On The Ceiling":

21) RUN-D.M.C. "It's Tricky":

22) The Beastie Boys "Intergalactic":

Yes country songs can be good to work out to as well. 23) Montgomery Gentry "Gone":

24) Lana Del Rey vs. Cedric Gervais "Summertime Sadness" (Pump It Up Version):

Another good way to get a good workout is to get songs that can give one catharsis. This song certainly will give a person catharsis. 25) Halsey "Gasoline":

These lyrics are very therapeutic and the kind that remind me that maybe work isn't the most important thing to me. 26) Boston "Peace of Mind":

27) My Chemical Romance "Dead!":

28) MC Hammer "U Can't Touch This":

29) Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars "Uptown Funk":

File under catharsis. 30) Toby Keith "How Do You Like Me Now":

Let's be honest this whole CD is a great workout CD. 32) My Chemical Romance "Welcome To The Black Parade":

36) Dua Lipa "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)":

37) Rachel Platten "Fight Song":

38) Shannon "Let The Music Play":

If it's a great song, then quite likely it's a great work out song. This and the above song show that. 39) The Dazz Band "Let It Whip":

Hello,

I thought this would be a really fun blog to write. The concept of a mash up is a great idea, finding two songs that work together in one song. Sadly I have discovered that making good mash ups is a rare skill. There really aren't that many good mash ups out there.

(Finished July 28th, 2022) Part 4 of The 102 Best Songs of the 2010s

Hello,

The way I'm doing this is I'm going to post the Top 102 greatest 2010s songs in order of the way I thought of them. Once I hit 102 songs I will go and look at the 102 listed songs and see if there are any other songs that the 101st song might be better than. If so I will replace the previously listed song. That way I can stay at 100 songs and have truly the 102 greatest 2010s songs of all-time. This isn't a ranking by best songs, that's just too much work. As best as I can these are the 102 greatest 2010s songs.

I will also post other great 2010s songs by each band listed if motivated enough. As all of these artists are so much more than one of the 102 greatest songs of the 2010s. Yeah I'm going to try and do all the decades from the 1950s to now, some decades will be harder/easier than others. It's likely not all of these songs will still be around in the final edition of this decade's Top 102 Best Songs.

(Finished July 25th, 2021) Part 4 of The Best of the First Eleven Years of This Century: 2000-2010

Hello,

Ah the 2000s, a decade known for 9/11, the 2008 financial crash, 2003's Iraq War, a tsunami that killed over 230,000 people. There's a growing awareness of climate change, which continues to escalate.

While there were some bad things those 11 years there were also a lot of great things. Things such as Harry Potter, "The Davinci Code" (opinions may vary),

It was also the time that included Clint Eastwood's masterful "Million Dollar Baby" and that amazing performance by Hillary Swank. Also that was the year of "The Dark Knight" and "King Kong".

Obviously some of the songs of the decade are below. Some of the best CDs of that timeframe are Alicia Keys "Songs In A Minor", Ryan Adams "Gold", The New Pornographers "Electric Version", Sufjan Stevens "Illinois", Franz Ferdinand's self-titled CD, U2's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", Death Cab For Cutie's "Transatlanticism", Arctic Monkeys' "Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not", Green Day's masterclass "American Idiot", The White Stripes "White Blood Cells", Bruce Springsteen's best CD "The Rising" (you heard me), U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind", Arcade Fire's "Funeral" and The Strokes "This Is It". Expect to see several songs from the above CDs on here.

And yes I know 2000-2010 is actually 11 years, it's okay and just enjoy the music. For those of you who think my 102 songs for the 2000s is too limiting these blogs have a lot more songs for your enjoyment.

(Finished July 24th, 2022) Part 1 of The 102 Best Country Songs of the 1980s

Hello,

I'm going to post the Top 102 greatest 80s country songs mostly in the way I thought of them. Once I hit 102 songs I will go and look at the 102 listed songs and see if there are any other songs that the 103rd song might be better than. If so I will replace the previously listed song. That way I can stay at 102 songs and have truly the 102 greatest 80s songs of all-time. I'm starting to get lazy so I may or may not do that. This isn't a ranking by best songs, that's just too much work. As best as I can these are the 102 greatest 80s country songs.

1) Dolly Parton " 9 to 5":
