Random musings, Upcoming College Football Weekend

Hello,

Last night Zack Galifinakis was on the Jimmy Kimmel show and he was absolutely hilarious. Thanks to the fine folks at ew.com for bringing this to my attention. Here's the link:

Apparently Teri Hatcher has been cast to play Lois Lane's Mom in this upcoming season of "Smallville". That is an amazing piece of casting, someone that thinks like me made that casting decision. Lois Lane in "Smallville" of course is played by the lovely Erica Durrance. "Smallville" premieres tonight and I'm looking forward to watching it. Here's some pictures to put this amazing news in proper pictorial content.

For those of you who don't get a chance to see how football is played outside of the East Coast, you've got two great chances this weekend. First of the all the powerhouse TCU team goes on the road to play against June Jones SMU team. TCU is 3-0 and on a roll, crushing the last two teams they've played. SMU is a respectable 2-1 but they haven't played a team quite like TCU yet. This will be easily SMU's hardest game of the season, a real team in the midst of a bunch of marshmallows. Tonight's game, yes the game is tonight, is at 8:00pm EST on ESPN. If for no other reason, watch just to see the destructive process of TCU's dominant defense. You can always watch "Smallville" another time. :)

Then tomorrow night Boise State will be playing #24 Oregon State in Boise. That game is at 8:00pm EST tomorrow night on NBC. I'm predicting BSU will win by at least two touchdowns.

Other local teams, I think there might be a great game in Provo tomorrow. 3-0, and future MWC team, Nevada comes into Provo to play the rebuilding BYU Cougars. Right now BYU is only playing for pride, this obviously is going to be a tough season for them. In upcoming weeks they play TCU and Utah on the road later in the season.

This is the game that I'm taking my two oldest boys too and I'm hoping it's a good game for their sake. The two headed quarterback situation, at least, has been resolved. Although it was not resolved in a way that any BYU fan or coach wanted it to be resolved. Riley Nelson has severely injured his shoulder and is out for the season. So all that pressure goes on to Jake Heaps, BYU's true freshman quarterback. With Heaps not very mobile, Nevada is going to load up in the box to come and get him. Although BYU allegedly has an experienced offensive line, they gave up 8 sacks last week. That's terrible.

One game you can definitely skip tomorrow is the Utah-San Jose St. game. Utah has another great team this year and San Jose State is just awful. To be fair San Jose St. has played both #1 Alabama and #11 Wisconsin in their stadiums. Still if Utah doesn't win at home by at least 28 points, I think that would be considered a disappointing Utah victory.
