themusicaddict's Top 124 Most Played Songs On My iTunes Part 1: The 30 Songs Tied for 95th Place- All Have 34 Listens (Finalized July 10th, 2016)

Hello,

This countdown started with 115 songs and evolved as I worked on this blog series. I went through and wrote all these countdown blogs, which eventually became the 124 songs most played on my iTunes. I kept the counts live. When a song moved up or reached 34 listens, that was tracked on this countdown.

This is at least my third annual countdown of the most played songs on my iTunes. My first two countdowns were heavily influenced by a son and a daughter's iPod being attached to my iTunes. But as they've got older they're better able to manage their own devices. My son has taste pretty similar to me and my daughter's music taste is fairly close to mine now. Just don't tell anyone she knows as she would be embarrassed. That's why there's one Justin Bieber song on this countdown, there used to be more. Taylor Swift's songs used to be all over this countdown, Two years ago, this countdown had 22 Swift songs on it. This year's countdown is down to 9 Swift songs. I have nothing against Miss Swift, she's a brilliant songwriter and she has a very deep catalog of great songs at such a young age.

I have a Sunday Music playlist and my iPod playlist, whatever songs land on those playlists will naturally have more of a chance to get more listens. Also the random play causes interesting songs to get more listens than some songs that I love a lot more. That's one of the reasons that Bell X1 has as many songs on this countdown as does Whitney Houston.

My goal is to only have 100 songs on this countdown, but I have 124 songs now. That's because there are 30 songs that are tied for 95th place. All of these songs have 34 listens, I'm including the videos for a select few of these songs. Information in the parenthesis is the previous ranking or whether it's a debut.

Arcade Fire "Neighborhood #2 (Laika)" (Debut):

Blink-182 "All The Small Things" (Debut):

Bruce Springsteen "Lonesome Day" (Debut):
Dire Straits "Romeo and Juliet" (Previous countdown: 28 listens, tied for 96th place.):

Fitz and the Tantrums "Out of My League" (Debut):

Guns N' Roses "Think About You" (Debut):
INXS "New Sensation" (Debut):

Jeff Carson's "The Car" (Previous countdown: 34 listens, tied for 25th place)

Liz Phair's "Rock Me" (Debut):

Lonestar "With Me" (Debut):

U2 "Pride (In The Name of Love) (Debut):

When In Rome "The Promise" (Debut):

The Best of The A*Teens

Hello,

Like I've said many times, I'm a sucker for a great pop song. The A*Teens have an overabundance of great pop songs. I like the A*Teens, but you can tell this is mass produced pop music. I imagine a know it all evil svengali watching over everything, making every decision and doing everything but the actual performing. And he/she is angry that they can't do that.

"Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)":

"Super Trouper":

"Lay All Your Love On Me":

This is the only Abba song I didn't know on the A*Teens "Abba Generation", "One of Us":

"The Name Of The Game":

"S.O.S.":

"Mamma Mia":

"Floorfiller":

"Can't Help Falling In Love":

"Bouncing Off The Ceiling":

"Halfway Around The World":

Just a great ballad, "Firefly":

"Sugar Rush":

No the following song isn't a Led Zeppelin cover, although they do a not very good cover of Alice Cooper's "School's Out":

"In The Blink of An Eye":

I have 52 non-Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks songs on my iTunes. Now on to the goddess of the mic stand.

"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (featuring Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers):

themusicaddict's 72nd of the 80's Greatest Musicians: The 17 Best of Ratt's 80's Era Songs Part 1 #17 to #11 (Finished October 6th, 2016)

Hello,

Ratt released 4 CDs and 1 EP in the 80s. This is their best 80s songs, including songs from 1990's "Detonator". I'm including "Detonator", although the CD was released in 1990, the majority of the songs were probably written still in the 80s Without a doubt their best CD is 1985's "Invasion of Your Privacy", all songs are at least decent on that CD. Look for several songs from that CD to be on this countdown. "Invasion" is followed by "Out of The Cellar", "Reach For The Sky" and then last and least is 1986's disappointing "Dancing Undercover". "Detonator" would be right behind "Cellar".

I wrote a preliminary blog about Ratt, which featured the songs "She Wants Money" and "The Morning After". I've deleted those two songs as they didn't make the Ratt countdown.

Probably Ratt's most successful lineup was the one from the mid-80s. It featured Stephen Pearcy, vocals, Robbin Crosby, guitars and vocals, Warren DeMartini, guitars and vocals, Juan Croucier, bass and vocals and Bobby Blotzer, drums and percussion.

17) "I'm Insane":

16) "Can't Wait On Love":

15) "Closer To My Heart":

14) "Never Use Love":

13) "You're In Love":

12) "Lay It Down":

11) "Way Cool Jr.":

themusicaddict's Sunday Afternoon Mix and Match Music Blog

Hello,

This blog is inspired by multiple things. 1) My daughter is a big fan of twenty one pilots and I'd like to take her to see them when they're here in Salt Lake City on July 16th. Tix are sold out, and I don't have any tix yet, wish me luck. I like to be as familiar with a band when I go see them in concert, so I've been listening to a lot of their music lately. To be honest, they aren't my favorite. But I do like some of their songs. 2) Also very sadly local independent record store- yes, they're still out there- Graywhale is having to close down their store. Graywhale will stay in business, but this specific location is being forced to close as their rent is being doubled. They've been a tenant for 10 years in a strip mall, you know the kind of place where the businesses constantly change. So not only does that make me sad, but it pisses me off. Anyway they're doing a clearance sale, 30% off everything at that specific location. I went in yesterday and they're in the picked over stage- although there were still a few gems to be found. 3) My MacBook is being repaired, so I'm using a family friend's laptop until I get my MacBook back. So the songs available to me are the songs I've bought on iTunes over the years, some random CDs I've had for awhile and those CDs I bought yesterday. You know, just in case you were wondering why this blog has A Teens, twenty one pilots and highlights from Roger Waters' "The Wall". And you know how iTunes falls in love with some CDs and ignores other CDs while on random play. That's why this blog doesn't have more diversity. Enjoy.

First up, three songs from twenty one pilots (Some places list the band's name as Twenty One Pilots, but I didn't find a consensus.)
This is one of my fav twenty one pilots songs: "Heavydirtysoul":

"Stressed Out":

"Tear In My Heart":

Three songs from The A*Teens:
"Halfway Around The World":

"Firefly":

"Sugar Rush":

Highlights from Roger Waters "The Wall":
Bryan Adams and Roger Waters' "Empty Spaces":

Cyndi Lauper's "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2":

Roger Waters "Comfortably Numb":

The Scorpions "In The Flesh":

Cyndi Lauper's "High and Mighty":

Florence + The Machine's "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful":

"I bet your body is so sweet, oh yeah." The Struts' "Put Your Money On Me":

Sia's "Bird Set Free":

and "Cheap Thrills":

and then three songs from Don Henley
"End of the Innocence":

"New York Minute":

Greatest 80's Musicians Addendum: Mano a Mano, Hagar vs. Roth: Who Had The Best Non Van Halen Career? (Finished May 20th, 2016)

Hello,

Hagar vs. Roth- Gary Cherrone no need to apply. Give me Hagar every day, he's a got better voice and also better songs as a solo artist. < That's what I originally wrote, but after listening to " Eat 'Em & Smile" and "Skyscraper", I'm backing off that pronouncement. I still prefer Hagar, but Roth is much closer than I realized. This is why I love having access to Google Play and being able to listen to so many of these great CDs again. For the terms of this blog, I'm mainly referring to their 80's solo careers. In this corner, Sammy Hitman Hagar (my apologies to the original Hitman, Thomas Hearns):

About the only slightly above average song from 1980's "Danger Zone" is "Heartbeat":

1982's "Standing Hampton" was a much better CD and had a lot better songs:

"I'll Fall In Love Again" (from the very solid 80's soundtrack to "Vision Quest":

"There's Only One Way To Rock":

"Heavy Metal":

"Baby's On Fire":

Also released in 1982 was "Three Lock Box":

"Three Lock Box":

"Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy":

"I Don't Need Love":

The best 8 solo Roth songs from the 80's.

8) "Damn Good":

7) "Skyscraper":

6) "The Bottom Line":

5) "Knucklebones":

4) "Just A Gigolo/ I Ain't Got Nobody":

3) "California Girls":

2) "Just Like Paradise":

themusicaddict's # 73rd Band for the Top 106 Greatest 80's Musicians Part 2: The Police: Best of "Synchronicity" (Finished October 9th, 2016)

Hello,

This is part two of my Police blog as the 73rd Greatest 80's musician, "Synchronicity" is their fifth and final CD. I don't expect much argument about this being their greatest CD. It's also their most complete CD. It has 5 without a doubt classic songs, which is more than any of their previous four CDs. This CD also launched the Police in the Biggest Band In the World for about 6 months. Sadly this happened to be the Police's final CD. They reunited to tour in 2007-2008, but have never released a new CD. Here are "Synchronicity's" best songs.

1) "Synchronicity 1":

2) "Synchronicity 2":

A classic song about true love, or obsession, if you count stalking as part of love. 3) "Every Breath You Take":

4) "King Of Pain":

5) "Wrapped Around Your Finger":

Not at the same level as the above 5 songs, but both of these songs are good. "Walking In Your Footsteps":

"Miss Gradenko":

themusicaddict's Great Goodbye Songs, Part 2

Hello,

This is great leaving songs, Part 2. Songs about leaving and saying goodbye. Sometimes the leaving is permanent and sometimes it's only temporary, but either way it's usually sad. But not all goodbyes are sad or bad and sometimes can be joyful.

But of course sometimes "Staying's Worse Than Leaving", so says Sunny Sweeney:

Pearl Jam "Leaving Here":

Country Music's patron saints of goodbyes and leavings, Rascal Flatts "What Hurts The Most":

"Here Comes Goodbye":

Quite simply one of my all-time favorite songs. Also from Rascal Flatts, for those that are left behind there's always a space left behind, "These Days":

Paul Simon's "Fifty Ways To Leave Your Lover":

A fun twist on the pain of goodbye. Train "50 Ways To Say Goodbye":

Blackhawk's "Goodbye Says It All":

Semisonic's "Closing Time":

N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye" (Alexander Chung's Choreography):

Now the original:

SheDaisy's "Little Goodbyes":

No surprise that the gloomy Pink Floyd has songs about goodbyes, isn't that pretty much one of the themes of "The Wall"? "Goodbye Blue Skies":

The Beatles "Hello Goodbye":

Yes' "Leave It":

I prefer Billy Ocean's cover of The Beatles "Long and Winding Road":

themusicaddict's # 73 80's Band for the Top 106 Greatest 80's Musicians: The Police (Part 1) (Finished October 9th, 2016)

Hello,

Out of all the great musicians of the 80s, there are only two people on my Top 106 countdown twice. The first is Sting, he was number 85 as a solo musician. As a member of The Police, he's number 76. The other person? I'll accept all guesses. My hint is he's at my #60 as a solo musician and with his band, he's at # 16. Without going through and listening to the Police's first 4 CDs, this is my Top 8 songs from those CDs. I didn't overlook "Synchronicity", it deserves it's own blog.

8) "Walking On The Moon":

7) "Roxanne":

6) "De Do Do Do De Da Da Da":

5) "Can't Stand Losing You":

4) "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic":

3) "Spirits In The Material World":

2) "Message In A Bottle":

1) "Don't Stand So Close To Me":

themusicaddict's Great Goodbye Songs

Hello,

Here are some great goodbye songs. Sometimes music speaks so much better than words. Sometimes the goodbye is temporary, sometimes it's permanent. Sometimes the goodbye is bitter, sometimes it's sweet and sometimes it's bittersweet. Sometimes it's the beginning, sometimes it's the end and every once-in-a-while it's neither. For whatever reason the goodbye occurs, all you can do is to leave with no regrets and don't burn any bridges. We all have our own paths in life, sometimes those paths may overlap multiple times. Enjoy the music and your path!

Oingo Boingo's "Goodbye Goodbye":

Night Ranger's "Goodbye":

Peter, Paul and Mary's "Leaving On A Jet Plane":

Roxette "It Must Have Been Love"- but it's over now:

Supertramp "Goodbye Stranger":

One of the most beautiful and yet most painful musical goodbyes, Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry":

Terri Clark's "A Little Gasoline":

I would urge you to skip this kind of saying goodbye to someone, Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye Earl":

James Blunt's "Goodbye My Lover":

Such a beautiful and amazing song, another song by Blunt, "So Long Jimmy":

Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me";

Because you haven't heard this song enough, 261 million views on Youtube. Although I've heard this song hundreds of times, I'm getting goosebumps again. Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You": ("Bittersweet memories is all that I'm taking with me"- isn't that what I just said above?:

Even if a goodbye isn't bad, that doesn't mean that it's not a bit sad:

Dixie Chicks' "Traveling Soldier":

No it's not your imagination, I do try and include this song on every one of my blogs. It's absolutely one of my favorite songs, Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin's "Separate Lives":

Phil Collins, again, "Against All Odds":

(Started May 12th, 2016, Revised and Revamped March 7th, 2023) Songs on themusicaddict's Radar: Songs Rocking My World Of Late

Hello,

Thanks to the show "Containment" for helping me discover this great song. The end of it's fourth episode plays this song over the final couple of minutes of the show. The music matches those final scenes very well. 1) Svrcina "Battlefield":

I wanted to post Prince's "Hardrocklover" here, but it's not on Youtube anywhere that I can find. I'm posting this amazing song instead. Updated March 7th, 2023 the amazing 2) Prince "Hardrocklover":

and 3) "Baltimore":

I'm going to be able to see Starship, Joan Osborne, Cyndi Lauper in concert, plus I promised my daughter I would take her to twenty one pilots. Updated March 7th, 2023: Second row at Starship and they were great, "We Built This City" kicks butt live. Joan Osborne and Cyndi Lauper were both good, but didn't quite reach amazing.

This song comes from "Pretty Little Stranger", which sadly isn't a very good CD. "Who Divided" and the title track are the only songs that aren't completely forgettable. 4) Joan Osborne "Who Divided":

Also I ended up going to see twenty one pilots with my daughter twice and both times they were great. Here's a couple of songs from their most recent CD "Scaled and Icy".

5) "Shy Away":

6) "Choker":

Now I hear Pet Shop Boys is coming in concert also which I didn't go too. Here are some of my favorite of their songs, starting first with "West End Girls."  "Call the police there's a madman around" or "You got a heart of glass or a heart of stone, just you wait until I get you home". This is definitely one of the greatest hits of the 80s. 7) "West End Girls":

8) "Go West":

9) "What Have I Done To Deserve This" (featuring Dusty Springfield):

10) One of the Pet Shop Boys most rocking songs "Suburbia":

themusicaddict gives two big thumbs up to The Struts CD, "Everybody Wants". A recent hot British band, The Struts with three of their songs. 11) "Could Have Been Me":

12) "Only Just A Call Away":

13) "Put Your Money On Me":

14) Evanescence "Blind Belief":

Just a random great song. 15) Jimmy Ruffin's "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted":

16) Damone's "Out Here All Night":

No one can deny Miss Swift is an amazing songwriter, although I know she doesn't write all her own songs. But she writes a lot of them by herself. 17) Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble":

Songs rocking my world now in 2023:

18) Linkin Park "Lost":

Um these guys are interesting. 19) Maneskin "The Loneliest":

At their stop in Tampa on their current tour. 20) Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band "Out In The Street":

themusicaddict's # 74 Band for The 106 Greatest 80's Musicians: Beastie Boys (Finished October 8th, 2016)

Hello,

My apologies as I haven't been able to blog the last couple of days because I'm having computer issues. Hopefully those issues will be resolved tomorrow. Anyway I wanted to post something, so that you'll know that I'm alive. I will expand this blog once I have more time.

Just who was the Beastie Boys? Well, they were Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock obviously. But there were a couple other original members, including John Berry and Kate Schellenbach, plus there were touring members also. But let's be honest the Beastie Boys were Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock. That's why when MCA died in 2012 that The Beastie Boys also effectively died. I would never say never, but some people are just hard to replace. RIP MCA.

The Beastie Boys released two CDs in the 80's, these are the best songs from those two CDs. From "Licensed To Ill":
"She's Crafty" (featuring a Zeppelin sample):

Another Led Zeppelin sample- well if you're going to steal/borrow you might as well do it from the greatest band of all-time. "Rhymin and Stealin":

"Girls":

"(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right To Party":

"Brass Monkey":

"Posse In Effect":

"Slow Ride":

"No Sleep Until Brooklyn":

"Hold It Now, Hit It":

"Slow And Low":

"Time To Get Ill":

From 1989's "Paul's Boutique":
"Shake Your Rump":

"Hey Ladies":

"Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun":

Is Axl Rose and AC/DC Touring Together A Good Idea?

Hello,

About the rumors of Axl Rose singing with AC/DC and why he's doing so:

Tonight is the first show of Axl Rose, replacing Brian Johnson, touring with AC/DC. Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

Judging by this video, it might be a great idea. Obviously this isn't AC/DC he's singing with here, but this is very good on "Whole Lotta Rosie":

Also at Coachella Angus Young with most of the original Guns N' Roses, "Riff Raff":

I know this is just rehearsals and the sound isn't optimal, but this isn't as promising:

How does Axl's voice hold up over a two hour concert now, the mostly reunited G N' R in Las Vegas in 2016:

Is this a good idea or not? Well the Titanic was a good idea and look how that turned out. We won't really know if this is a good idea until the 12 dates play out. Surely they can get along for that space of time. I love Brian Johnson and his great voice, but he's been losing his voice over the last few years. Now it seems his hearing is also going away. If I were Johnson I would do whatever I can to keep any hearing that I have. Best wishes to Johnson and his health. Same to Malcolm Young, it's a terrible thing he's going through.

Both AC/DC and Guns N' Roses are very high on my Top 106 Greatest 80's bands countdown.

I don't know if this is a good idea, but it does have a lot of potential. Sadly that potential is for both great and disastrous things. If I had tickets to any of the 12 shows I would be absolutely stoked. I look forward to watching the videos when they're posted.

themusicaddict's Top 106 Greatest 80's Bands Part 20b: # 77 Best of Phil Collins from the 80s excluding "No Jacket Required" Songs

Hello,

This list is in no particular order, but the further I go into the blog the better the songs get in my not so humble opinion. For some reason Phil Collins has a bad reputation, but he has a lot of great songs. I was a Phil Collins snob for a long time, but the last few years I've started to like his music a lot more. Enjoy these 14 excellent songs:

"Behind The Lines":

"I'm Not Moving":

"Colours":

"Hang In Long Enough":

"Another Day In Paradise":

"Heat On The Street":

"Do You Remember":

"I Wish It Would Rain Down":

"Something Happened On The Way To Heaven": Collins asked a very good question, "How many times can I say sorry", that's something I've often wondered.

"I Missed Again":

"You Can't Hurry Love":

What a great ballad, what a great song! "Separate Lives":

An incredibly funky song, especially for a white dude. "Easy Lover": (featuring Philip Bailey):

Either my first or second favorite Phil Collins song, depending on the day. "In The Air Tonight":

"In The Air Tonight" (Live):

themusicaddict's Final Review of Justin Cronin's "The Twelve" & Preview of "City of Mirrors" (Spoilers Galore!)

Hello,

There are a ton of spoilers in this review, please only proceed if you've read the first two books in "The Passage" trilogy. This is through page 501 of the the softcover edition of "The Twelve", only 63 pages to go. The title of the book refers to the people who were infected with a virus that was suppose to help create super soldiers, which it did in a way. I'm so glad I'm read this before reading "City of Mirrors". "Mirrors" the third book in this trilogy is due May 24th. I look forward to reading it.

"The Twelve" is the second book in "The Passage" trilogy. The trilogy's third book "City of Mirrors" I'll be reading "Mirrors" for NetGalley.com as well as the publisher Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine Books. I wanted to be better prepared so I'm reading "The Twelve" before tackling "City of Mirrors". I'm so glad I did, I had forgotten so much as it had been a couple of years since I read "The Passage".

The book jumps back and forth in time, starting when the plague started up to finding out what Guilder was building at The Homeland. I liked this book quite a bit, the jumping back and forth in time is a bit confusing. But eventually I figured it out. It's good to see what's going on with what feel like old friends, like Alicia, Amy, Peter Jaxon, General Greer.

Cronin's writing style is very good, making it difficult to put the book down. I'm looking forward to the hopefully thrilling conclusion. I actually liked this book more than "The Passage". "The Twelve" is solid from start to finish. Whereas "The Passage" started out strong, but the about last 20% wasn't as good. Honestly I did have problems keeping track of the continuing time jumps, but a bit of rereading helped resolve some of those issues.

I'm sorry to see Wolgast go, but Amy released him so sweetly. Now Wolgast, Lila and Eva can live happily ever after. All three deserve a happy ever after all their troubles and Lila final brave sacrifice. I know Grey had his issues, but he mostly seemed to be a good guy. I'm so glad he got his release, 100 years of captivity isn't living, it's existing. I'm glad to see Guilder, and his minions, get their just reward.

I finished reading "The Twelve" last night and I'm still on a just finished reading a great book high. I'm excited I get to start reading "City of Mirrors". Thanks again to NetGalley.com and Ballantine for giving me the opportunity to finish reading this book before it's May 24th, 2016 public release.

"City of Mirror" questions. How will Hollis, Sara and Kate get along? What kind of challenges will there be moving 70,000 people from The Homeland to Kerrville? I'm guessing there will be a final showdown, will that happen in Kerrville? Will the survivors be able to communicate with the outside world easier now? What will be Alicia and all the survivors final destiny? Who will have to die for the others to reach that destiny? Zero is calling her and she's defiantly accepting his invitation.  What will be the end result for Amy, Anthony Carter and what state is Rachel Wood in? With The Twelve dead, what will drive action forward in this book? This is going to be fun!

Hello,

After diving into Roxette's music the last couple of days, I realized their original rank is way too low. So I did some moving around and Roxette is now at the more appropriate # 59. I'll be counting down their Top 30 songs from the start of their career to 1995's greatest hits "Don't Bore Us Get To The Chorus."

I have additional blogs to write for Phil Collins, Rush, Neil Diamond and also I plan on finishing my Bruce Springsteen/ working man blog. Plus upcoming later this summer I'll be writing reviews for Starship and Joan Osborne. I bought tickets for both yesterday. If you only think of Joan Osborne for "One of Us", you need to check out her other music. In fact the CD that song comes from, "Relish" is an amazing CD. But she also has a bunch of other great songs, for instance, "Cathedrals". She has an incredibly beautiful voice.

I also hope to finish my Top 106 Greatest 80's musicians by the end of this year. (Ha ha, yeah right.) And starting around Memorial Day I'll be posting the third annual about Top 100 most played songs on themusicaddict's iPod. I'll also be updating other blogs and writing about other things that come up.

I'll also be working more on this blog later, I've got to go to work. Roxette is my 75th Greatest 80's Musician. Due to limited time I'll just be posting this for now. This is Roxette's second CD, it received a very limited release. It's a collection of 7 dance tracks from their 1986 debut CD "Pearls of Passion". This CD is titled "Dance Passion":

Roxette released a new CD on June 10th, 2016. It's "Good Karma" and Roxette's karma isn't very good. For me the thing I like the most is their great upbeat songs, like "The Look" and "Joyride". I also love their ballads, including the heartbreaking "It Must Have Been Love". However this CD is full of mostly mid-tempo songs, that isn't Roxette's strength. Although it is good to see Roxette still being active. Perhaps next time focus on your strengths, if you really want to give your fans a joyride. Notice how mid-tempo songs fare on my Top 30 countdown. Here's the 30th to 21st best songs of Roxette as determined by yours truly.

30) "Real Sugar":

29) "Lies":

28) "Crash! Boom! Bang!":

This is a decent song, but this song is mainly on this countdown because of it's title. Although I wish the guitars were doing more crashing. 27) "Crashing Guitars":

26) "Opportunity Nox":

25) "Neverending Love":

24) "You Don't Understand Me":

23) "View From A Hill":

22) "Love Spins":

21) "Cry":

themusicaddict's Top 106 Greatest 80's Bands Addendum: Top 10 Preview Madonna

Hello,

This blog was inspired by hearing Madonna's "Like A Prayer" at work yesterday. Currently I work at WalMart, the thing I like most about working at WalMart is Walmart radio. It could also be called themusicaddict's iPod playlist. From classic Nancy Sinatra to new stuff from Taylor Swift, it's just a lot of great music.

Madonna is in my Top Ten 80's musicians. Also with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Prince dying I was thinking how sad it would be when Madonna dies. To Madonna Louise Ciccone here's to a long and healthy life and I can't wait until your next musical project. I still love you just as much as back in the day.

Here are just a few of my favorite Madonna songs, starting with the song that inspired this blog:

"Vogue":

"Express Yourself":

Her ballads are also amazing, here's "The Power of Goodbye":

"Live To Tell":

And yet another amazing ballad "Crazy For You":

"Rain":

"Into The Groove":

"Take A Bow":

She's released some great songs recently as well, "Heartbreak City":

"Rebel Heart":

"Ghosttown":

Here's a sampler of all 19 songs on "Rebel Heart", some of these songs are pretty good and some are pretty weak:

themusicaddict Wonders Should I Go See Joan Osborne In Concert?

Hello,

Joan Osborne will be appearing at a local intimate concert amphitheatre on Saturday, August 27th. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday. It's a great place to see a show and the tickets are very reasonably priced, I'm awfully tempted. I've already decided I'm going to go see Starship on Saturday, September 10th. This blog will contain the videos I watch on Youtube to help me make that decision. I'm going with about the first 10 live performances that are found that aren't duplicates.

Here's Joan performing with the Joan Osborne Trio in 2011:

"St. Theresa":

"Heatwave":

"One of Us":

I think this might be my favorite song of hers, especially when she sings the funked up version, "Right Hand Man":

Joan Osborne and the Holmes Brothers:

From February 2015:

"Ain't No Sunshine":

"Gimme Shelter":

"Crazy Baby":

"Spiderweb":
