(Finished December 8th, 2022) Part 7 of The Best Songs of 1983-1986: Songs 114-130

Hello,

This blog is inspired by Season 3 of "Cobra Kai", which takes me back to that extremely fertile time in music of 1983-1986. These are the best of the best songs for those four years. So many of these songs are from 80s movies. The first two blogs in this series have a lot of songs from movies. The other blogs also have movie related songs. I can't remember how many music videos were just basically clips of the movie that song was from. With great 80s music and movies it was such a great time to grow up.

What CDs, songs, soundtrack etc. were being released these 4 years? These were the years of "Thriller", "Purple Rain" (best soundtrack ever), "Footloose", "Pretty In Pink" (not only a great movie, but a great soundtrack that really captures the music of it's time). Also this was the era of New Wave, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Def Leppard from getting their foot into the door to when they became the biggest band in the world, "We Are The World", Live Aid, "Karate Kid" and it's great music, Also only of the funkiest CDs ever produced, David Bowie's "Let's Dance", CDs started replacing albums and cassettes as the most popular way to listen to music

Number one overall songs of 1983) The Police "Every Breath You Take", 1984) Prince "When Doves Cry", 1985) Wham! "Careless Whisper" and 1986) "That's What Friends Are For":

Number one overall albums of 1983 and 1984) Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Yes it was a monster. 1985) Bruce Springsteen "Born In The U.S.A.", 1986) Whitney Houston self-titled.

Top overall country songs of each year according to playback.fm. 1983) Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers "Island In the Stream" 1984) Julio Iglesias and Willie Nelson "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" 1985) Kenny Rogers "Morning Desire"- since I barely heard this song back in the day, I doubt this really was the 1985 #1 country song and from playlistresearch.com 1986) The Judds "Grandpa (Tell Me About The Good Old Days".

Many times I just want to go back and listen to the amazing music of the 80s, thanks for coming along.

114) Cameo "Word Up":

115) Reba McEntire "Whoever's In New England":

Not sure or not if this is my favorite Madonna song or not, but it's near the top. This song is a pure slice of pop perfection. 116) Madonna "Papa Don't Preach":
