Tonight Is the National Championship Game, Great Songs

Like a broken clock is right twice a day, the BCS managed to get something right. Tonight's game between Auburn and Oregon should be a classic battle. I think the team whose defense plays best will win the game? I wouldn't be surprised for both teams to be in the mid-30s in points. I'm looking forward to this game. I'm not predicting a winner, but I'll be cheering for Oregon. I think that someday if Auburn wins, they'll be stripped of the title. Due to that why let them win in the first place?

Now on to college basketball, where there is no BCS and they actually have a playoff! What a good idea, maybe college football should try that sometime. Or does that make too much sense? This year as long as you are selected as one of the best 68 teams in the nation, you get invited to the Big Dance, aka the NCAA Tournament, aka March Madness and aka the three best sports weeks of the year.

Anyway as the MWC crumbles and reassembles, some of the teams leaving are going out with a bang. Of course some of the teams are going out with a clunk- I'm looking at your basketball program Utah. The Jim Boylen Era is finally about to come to an end. Whatever happened to that great program? While Utah will be lucky to finish over .500, BYU is having a once-in-a-generation season.

Currently BYU is ranked #10 in the nation and is 16-1. They had an impressive victory over UNLV last week. Don't worry I'm not going to trash talk about BYU, I think they have a good team. They might even have a team that can make it to the Sweet 16- wouldn't it be nice to make it to the second weekend? However do I think they have a chance to win the national title? Um, no. Not even close. I'm going to sit back and enjoy the season though.

SDSU is having a phenomenal season. They are 17-0 and #6 in the nation. Steve Fisher has done an amazing job in San Diego. Sarcasm alert: It's too bad he has to live in such a hard to enjoy city. Two dates to circle on your calender, SDSU will play at BYU on January 26th. The rematch will be in San Diego on February 26th. I think SDSU is the cream of MWC basketball. However BYU and UNLV both should have good seasons and easily qualify for the Big Dance. Colorado State and New Mexico, always dangerous in the Pit, looks like they will have a big say about who wins this conference. I think the MWC could place 5 teams in the NCAA's. That would be a spectacular follow up to going 4-1 in bowl games.
