The First Flush of Love, "Glee", "American Idol"

Hello,

Love has many stages, from the first giddy excitement of a budding relationship to the painful misery of falling out of love. As I'm now 43, I've experienced all stages of that process. I'm not currently dating anyone but I'm looking forward to the giddy feeling of love. I'm hoping falling out of love doesn't occur this time, for me or that special lady. The bad thing about divorce is how expensive it is for everybody. But the good thing about divorce is the opportunity to rediscover oneself. It's almost like a rebirth and I know a lot more about what I want in a woman next time. I think the worst thing after divorce is to immediately get right back into a relationship. At least for several months, you should do some soul searching. Most if not all people would also benefit from some counseling. My counselor has given me a tremendous amount of help.

Right now I'm just tentatively putting my toe back in the dating pool. Driving to work this morning I heard a song that puts me in the frame of mind of that beginning giddy feeling of love.

This is the "Glee" version of "Taking Chances", sung by Lea Michelle.

These are the amazing lyrics (thanks to elyrics.net):

Don't know much about your life.
Don't know much about your world, but
Don't want to be alone tonight,
On this planet they call earth.

You don't know about my past, and
I don't have a future figured out.
And maybe this is going too fast.
And maybe it's not meant to last,

But what do you say to taking chances,
What do you say to jumping off the edge?
Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,
What do you say,
What do you say?

I just want to start again,
And maybe you could show me how to try,
And maybe you could take me in,
Somewhere underneath your skin?

What do you say to taking chances,
What do you say to jumping off the edge?

Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,
What do you say,
What do you say?

And I had my heart beating down,
But I always come back for more, yeah.
There's nothing like love to pull you up,
When you're laying down on the floor there.
So talk to me, talk to me,
Like lovers do.
Yeah walk with me, walk with me,
Like lovers do,
Like lovers do.

What do you say to taking chances,
What do you say to jumping off the edge?
Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,
What do you say,
What do you say?

Don't know much about your life
And I don't know much about your world

Don't know much about your life.
Don't know much about your world, but
Don't want to be alone tonight,
On this planet they call earth.

You don't know about my past, and
I don't have a future figured out.
And maybe this is going too fast.
And maybe it's not meant to last,

But what do you say to taking chances,
What do you say to jumping off the edge?
Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,
What do you say,
What do you say?

I just want to start again,
And maybe you could show me how to try,
And maybe you could take me in,
Somewhere underneath your skin?

What do you say to taking chances,
What do you say to jumping off the edge?

Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,
What do you say,
What do you say?

And I had my heart beating down,
But I always come back for more, yeah.
There's nothing like love to pull you up,
When you're laying down on the floor there.
So talk to me, talk to me,
Like lovers do.
Yeah walk with me, walk with me,
Like lovers do,
Like lovers do.

What do you say to taking chances,
What do you say to jumping off the edge?
Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,
What do you say,
What do you say?

Don't know much about your life
And I don't know much about your world

Lea Michelle has a great voice and is pretty hot too. I love, love this song.

Many of the songs "Glee" uses are already amazing songs, like the above two songs for instance.
However "Glee" many times takes a song and adds something very cool to it. For instance, I love their version of Queen's "Somebody To Love".

Rihanna sings "Take A Bow" with so much power and is amazing, but Lea Michelle does this song just as well if not better.

Once the initial rush has passed and both people in the relationship are both knowing they are together, things get a little more serious. This is for this next stage. I believe this song is sung by Amber Riley, she also has an amazing voice.

One final song, this is from "Les Miserables". This song is a heart breakingly beautiful song and Lea again sings it with great power. The song is titled "On My Own":

Last and least, Season 10 of "American Idol" begins tonight. To paraphrase the Smiths, "Please, Please, Please let this be the last season." This show has so got to end. I plan on watching this show, but only for the car wreck show angle. If I hadn't saw something on ew.com yesterday, I would have completely forgotten about it starting tonight. I will probably watch some of the episodes, but at this point there's no way I'm making a full season commitment to it.

Also I think "Glee" is the new "American Idol" without the annoying judges, Randy Jackson's annoying irrelevance and heavy handed producers.
