A tribute to Charlie Daniels, who died today at the age of 83. Obviously Daniels was known most for #1 Country Song and #3 Billboard Hot 100 hit "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". That song was released on May 21st, 1979. It ended up reaching #1 in the week of August 25th. Looking back now it's hard that song took so long to reach #1. It was just before my 12th birthday when this song came out and it blew up, it's one of those songs that was everywhere. For tribute I'm going to post Daniels biggest hits and most famous songs. But first I'm going to post the two songs that kept "Devil" out of the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. (Thanks to Wikipedia.org.)
Of course this song was all over the place in the summer of 1979, The Knack's "My Sharona":
The other song that kept "Devil" from going to #1 was Earth, Wind and Fire's "After The Love Has Gone":
