Marching into March, "Creepin Up The Backstairs"

Hello,

For today's under appreciated song of the day here's one of my favorite songs from the last few years. When I was exercising my iPod wasn't playing any fire me up exercise songs. Then this song came on and that fired me up.

This is the Fratelli's "Creepin' Up The Backstairs":

Another all-time classic song, yet still an under appreciated song of the day. This is Don Henley's "The Heart of the Matter". Just another amazing song. I didn't watch a lot of the "Gilmore Girls", but it seemed to be a good show. I just want to say one thing to Luke, hey dude when you are trying to woo a woman, lose the hat. Also an occaisonal shave wouldn't hurt either.

Yes, I know there's more that's going on in this song other than the digs at lawyers. But Henley is so right about lawyers. I'm not as full of hate as this Shakespeare character, but I certainly understand how he feels. (2 Henry VI, 4.2.59), Butcher to Jack Cade: "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers".

I also like Henley's "The End of the Innocence":

Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn't have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standing by
When "happily ever after" fails
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers dwell on small details (me: Ain't that the truth? The only ones who benefit from divorce are the lawyers.)
Since daddy had to fly

But I know a place where we can go
That's still untouched by man
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waves in the wind
You can lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence

O' beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie

But I know a place where we can go
And wash away this sin
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waves in the wind
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair spill all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence

Who knows how long this will last
Now we've come so far, so fast
But, somewhere back there in the dust
That same small town in each of us
I need to remember this
So baby give me just one kiss
And let me take a long last look
Before we say good bye
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
