The LeBron James fade show continues, How corrupt is Ohio State?, Red Sox rule

Hello,

Last night was yet another intense, hard fought NBA Finals game. Dallas held on to win 86-83 to tie the series at 2-2. Dirk Nowitski was battling a fever and still managed to score 10 points in the 4th quarter.

But the thing that made me sick was LeBron James play. He continues to completely disappear in the 4th quarter, at least on the offensive end. Nowitski scored more points in the 4th quarter yesterday than James did in the entire game. Not only that but James didn't score any points in the fourth quarter at all! Zip, zilch, nada, none. In fact in all 4th quarters of the NBA Finals he has only scored 9 total points. The announcers said that last night's mishandled final play was drawn up for LeBron James. Ultimately Dwayne Wade fumbled the in bounds pass which led to a desperation Mike Miller 3 pointer. Thus James didn't get his shot at glory. But why would Spoelstra draw up the final play for James? James probably would have passed or let the game clock wind down.

Other than Chris Bosh and Wade, no one else on Miami dares to take the big shot. That leads to a lot of awkward passing as the shot clock runs down. I don't recall a playoff series where the shot clock has ran out, or come close to running out for one team so many times. It's like Miami's players turn off their brains with about 10 seconds left in the shot clock and just go to passing. LeBron you've got to man up, you've got to get going in the 4th quarter. Dwayne "The Man" Wade can't do it all by himself. Although he almost has.

How dirty is Ohio State? It seems like there's a new revelation everyday about the dark underbelly of OSU football. When the revelation came out that Terrelle Pryor had driven 7 or 8 different cars in his time at Ohio St, that was further proof that everything wasn't right in Columbus. Jim Tressel has now stepped down and Pryor the Liar isn't coming back either. Although I don't think anyone really thought Pryor would be coming back. Who knows what other players will also be leaving the team? There will be more that's for sure.

However the next person that needs to leave is OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith. Why hasn't he been fired/ been asked to resign yet? He's probably saying that he didn't know about the corruption. However that isn't an acceptable answer, it's his responsibility to know about the corruption. It's also his job to make sure there's no corruption in the first place and to stop it as soon as he finds out about it. He obviously hasn't done either of those things very well.

He's in the same place as former USC AD Mike Garrett was in when all the revelations started coming out about the Trojans. Garrett held on to his job too long, only leaving after tarnishing his reputation more. Thankfully USC was very smart in getting Pat Haden to be their AD. An honest, no nonsense person that will make sure that USC's programs are run ethically. Although that may be a challenge with Lane Kiffin as their head football coach.

Other sports notes: Tiger Woods has announced he's not playing in the U.S. Open. I could care less and not sure why anyone else would at this point. He's barely hanging on to his top 10 ranking and hasn't won any of the last 20 tournaments he has played. He left his last tournament halfway through. It's time to put a fork into Tiger's career, it's done. It's obvious that after a great run karma has come calling.

I keep on waiting for karma to catch up with Scam Newton. As with all of the rest of us, it will eventually come. I would say Newton getting drafted by Carolina is the karma starting to assert itself. However I don't want the karma to hurt the Panthers. From the John Fox era to the whiny Steve Smith yearly drama, they've had enough bad karma. (Denver Broncos why again did you sign John Fox to be your head coach. About the only worst person you could have signed is Wade Phillips.)

Boston went into New York last night, beating the Yankees 6-4. Boston is now 6-1 against the Yankees this year. It helped the Red Sox that they didn't have Daisuke Matzusaka or John Lacking pitching for them. Dice-K is obviously out for the season and probably for his Red Sox career. I'm hoping Lacking is kept on the disabled list as long as possible. Anyway Jon Lester, a truly courageous player, pitched well enough to get his 8th win of the season. There are two more games left in this series. New York and Boston are virtually tied for first place in the AL East.
