"In Time": Is Justin Timberlake the new Denzel Washington?

Hello,

I saw the new movie "In Time" yesterday afternoon and I quite liked it. I'm not sure what it is but there's just something that's so cool about Timberlake. He's got that Denzel Washington like charisma. He can step into the shoes of Denzel Washington for those gritty roles. I'm not sure why Timberlake was in "Bad Teacher". His talents were sorely misused in that film. And Amanda Seyfried looks a lot better with dark hair. I had a hard time taking my eyes off of her every time she was on the screen.

This movie was sexy, intelligent, fun and believable. I loved the whole concept of time as money. Also having the characters stop aging at 25 was a good way to have Olivia Wilde as Justin Timberlake's Mom. However no one that hot should be anyone's mother. Also no one can play slimy and smarmy as well as Vincent Kartheiser (the annoying Pete Campbell in "Mad Men"). I also like Cillian Murphy as the villain timekeeper I know that he wasn't a villain per se, however he was definitely working for the man.

With this movie and the amazing movie "Real Steel", I now have 3 movies to put on my Top Ten list of best movies for this year. For the bad movies, I don't know if a bottom 10 list would be enough. There have been some real clunkers this year.

The theme of "In Time" for the poor is urgency. I wish both sides in the NBA negotiations had these timers on their arms. They would only be given a certain amount of time to reach a resolution. Both sides have lacked urgency. For instance, before meeting yesterday the last time the two sides met was 9 days before. It seems like neither side much cares about coming to a resolution. I don't know if both sides have another meeting set up. The NBA just has that ultimatum out there for the players to accept a deal by Wednesday. The owners are bound and determined to "win" this negotiation. The league be damned. The NBAPA says they aren't even going to present this deal to the rank and file as the deal is so bad.

The NBA didn't reach any agreement after 8 hours of negotiations yesterday. Not only that but the NBA gave the players an ultimatum to accept this deal by Wednesday or the NBA would be offering a lesser deal.

Someone please take the NBA patient off of life support. Someday there will be professional basketball again, it's time to start finding alternatives to the NBA. Although I love professional basketball I've long hated the NBA. From the arrogant David Stern, the epitome of why corporate America thinking sucks, to the refs giving the benefit of the doubt to the superstars. It's also the league that has the least amount of change in who the great teams are year in and year out. For instance, it's about time that the Lakers go through a 5 year funk.

Gratefully I didn't watch a minute of that defensive borefest last night between LSU and Alabama. But if that's the game they are going to play, let's please not have a rematch in the national championship game.

Also the Utah Utes won, as they should have, they are now 5-4. The local media in Salt Lake was trying to play up as Arizona being a good team. They were 2-6 before this game and had fired their coach during the season. I don't care how good their quarterback is, they aren't a good team? The Utes return home to play UCLA on Saturday. The Utes have gained some momentum and I predict they will roll over the Bruins.

BSU had a tougher than expected game with UNLV, but I see them running away from TCU next weekend. The Broncos still have a great team while TCU has a lesser talented team than in years past.

In the NFL the Dallas Cowboys continue to underachieve. They are playing one of the worst teams in the NFL, the 2-5 Seahawks, and Dallas is playing at home. So of course Dallas is struggling. Of course Dallas isn't a great team either. If they win today they'll be 4-4. Really it's time for some changes in Dallas. Jerry Jones needs to get off the TV and make some changes. First of all he needs to fire himself as General Manager, he's proven time and time again that he has no idea what he's doing. Second, he needs to start working on getting a quarterback for the future. Tony Romo is not and never has been the answer. Thirdly, the most I see Jason Garrett in action, the less I'm impressed. The Cowboys need to be like the Cubs and get a complete fresh start.
