In Fairness: Dwight Howard Had A Good Game, Jazz Win!

Hello,

If you've ever had the misfortune to stumble across my blog, you know my intense dislike of Dwight Howard. He represents to me many of the bad things about the modern day spoiled pro athlete. I do have to give him props when he has a great game. Howard had a great game on Halloween against the Trailblazers. In 41 minutes he made 9 of 15 shots in scoring 33 points. Surprisingly he made 15 of 19 free throws, raising his season free throw shooting percentage to .545. Although he doesn't really look like he's shooting the ball, but more like he's shot putting the free throws. He also had 14 rebounds and 5 assists.

Although he had one great game, I still don't want the spoiled, egotistical player on my team. Although he fits right in with the Lakers. Portland went on to win last night's game 116-106, which drops the Lakers to 0-2. Do I think this is a trend for the Lakers? No, I expect the Lakers to unfortunately bounce back and end up with a great record. Although I do have to admit I enjoy the early season stumbles.

My Jazz won their first game of the season last night. They were 113-96 victors over a Maverick team playing their second game in two nights. Paul Milsap had his usual great game. He has a lot of ability, but he enhances that with his constant hustle. He had 14 rebounds midway through the second quarter and finished with 15. With Al Jefferson, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter and Milsap the Jazz have too many players at the 4. The Jazz could trade Jefferson and hopefully gain a solid scoring guard. Those extra minutes could go to their young forwards. Kanter, who only played 14 minutes last night, looks like he's going to be a beast. He's improved dramatically from his rookie season. And Favors, who only played 18 minutes last night, has a tremendous upside. The Jazz can trade Jefferson and split those 29 minutes between the two young studs. By acquiring a consistent outside threat, that would open up the low post for Milsap, Favors and Kanter.

This Jazz team has a lot of potential. Potential is a scary thing. The Cowboys have a lot of potential, but they rarely live up to it. I'm hoping that the Jazz can live up to most of their potential. The Jazz should make the playoffs for the second year in a row. Hopefully they'll do better than being swept out of the first round as they were last year.

I'd also like to welcome Marvin Williams to Utah and welcome back Mo Williams to the Jazz. Both had very good games last night.
