"Prometheus", NBA Western Conference Real Playoff Seedings, Amare Stoudemire

Hello,

This is the international trailer for the upcoming movie "Prometheus" It sort of is an "Alien" prequel. It also sort of isn't. According to wikipedia.org this isn't an actual prequel to the Sigourney Weaver trilogy. From wikipedia.org: "Conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites of Spaihts's script by Lindelof developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchiseNow I know there's no way this movie will be as good as this trailer makes it look. However I'll still probably see it opening day. I love how the music is used to create fear. Isn't that some of the freakiest music you've ever heard?

Okay since I promised this yesterday, here is my "real" Western Conference Playoff seeding. You'll notice this is almost exactly the same as the actual playoff seedings.

1) San Antonio: The Spurs easily beat the Jazz in Game 1 of this series. The Spurs-Jazz and Lakers-Nuggets could be the two worst playoff series in this season's playoffs.

2) Oklahoma City: they lead Dallas 2-0 in their first round series. A lot of people are criticizing the Thunder for how narrowly they won the first two games in this series. It doesn't matter how close the games are, it only matters that you win.

3) LA Lakers: it doesn't seem like they'll miss Ron Artest against the Nuggets. Look for the Lakers to go up 2-0 after another easy victory tonight.

4) LA Clippers: Again it doesn't matter how they won, it only matters that they did.

5) Memphis: It seems there weren't any extinguishers near as the Grizzilies walked back to their locker room after the game.

6) Dallas: they are doing better than I expected, but they are still down 0-2 heading home. Not that it matters, they probably won't win this series anyway. I don't think they are missing the moody Lamar Odom or the Kardashian circus any. I'm glad the Mavericks are losing, I hated their winning the NBA title last season. Dirk Nowitski is one of the best all-time shooters and still a great player. Unfortunately for him, this Mavericks team has much less talent than last season's team. Tyson Chandler went to the Knicks and the miracle shooter JJ Barea is now out of the NBA. (Okay not really, he's playing for the Timberwolves.) Did you even remember him or realize he was still in the NBA? Berea had success last season when he was the 4th option, but now he has virtually disappeared. Good riddance to him. Also it looks like the Jet has crashed, I still can't believe Jason Terry has been as successful as he's been. He's shooting pretty well in this series though.

7) Denver: They looked like they didn't even belong in the same arena as the Lakers.

8) Jazz: The Jazz are just here to get some experience for future playoffs. They are still a true Deron Williams like point guard away from competing for actual playoff success. I would love to see Steve Nash end his career as a member of the Jazz. I don't see either the Nuggets or Jazz getting to a 6th game or even put a legitimate scare into the teams they are playing.

I watched and enjoyed the last third of the Heat-Knicks game last night. I love seeing Miami completely dominate the Knicks. I'm amazed that no matter how mediocre Carmelo Anthony plays, his reputation remains left in tact. Although I found out this morning that I'm not the only one of the Anthony band wagon. Thanks to Colin Cowherd, he quoted this stat this morning. In the 9 seasons Anthony has been in the NBA, he has only advanced past the first round of the playoffs once.

One of the announcers quoted another illuminating stat about the vastly overrated Anthony last night. I don't have the exact stat, but it's something like: In his last 7 playoff games Anthony has shot under 30% 4 times. Anthony was 12 of 26 and 6 of 9 from the free throw line and scored 30 points last night. Wouldn't quite a few NBA players be able to score 30 points on 26 shots from the field? Anthony also had 9 rebounds and the Knicks were "only" outscored by 11 points while he was on the floor last night. In a stat more representative of what I see of Carmelo Anthony: In 45 minutes he had 1 assist. Shouldn't you get at least two or three assists by accident?

The Knicks, losers of 12 straight playoff games, now go home 0-2. After the game and apparently in a fit of anger and stupidity, Amare Stoudemire punched a fire extinguisher case. He was apparently pissed off that he only had 9 shots. No word that he punched the case because the Knicks lost. It seems Amare didn't get the memo that this is Anthony's team. This short sighted behavior typifies this self-centered Knicks team. Instead of filling Madison Square Garden with assists, rebounds and solid defense Amare pouted during the game. Then in pure stupidity he punched the case. He'll probably miss Thursday night's game and possiblythe rest of the series. However I actually expect a better effort from the Knicks Thursday night. I think they might be a better team without Amare whining on the floor.

I hate the modern spoiled, whining athlete as personified by Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire.

Some thoughts about the Dysfunction Junction known as the Knicks. Why did they pair Anthony and Stoudemire on the same team? Didn't they want anyone to play defense? Why do they defer to Anthony so much? How much fun would it be to add Dwight Howard to this team? Would this be the first team to have fights on the floor with each other? They would fight to receive the inbounds pass so they could bring the ball up the court. They would know that's the only way they would get the shot. There would be virtually no defense and a lot of selfish play- of course that's not much different than the current Knicks team.

Other random Knicks related questions. How dumb is Amare? Will the NBA suspend the fire extinguisher? Will the Knicks get another big man for next season? What will happen with Jeremy Lin?
