I am not a David Archuleta hater. We both come from the same state and I usually support my fellow Utahans 100%. However in this case I can not. Archuleta seems nice enough and has the world in front of him. However while having a good voice, he bores me to tears. I am about to write the four scariest words in music. David Archuleta in concert! What a dreary, boring spectacle that would be. Based on his performances so far on "AI", I am going to write a possible set list for him.
"Shop Around" I don't even remember this song. "Imagine" He received universal praise for this and this was his best performance so far. "Another Day In Paradise" This was not even a good song when Phil Collins sang it and David Archuleta did it no favors. I was so bored with this performance. Isn't that the worst thing you can say about a live performance.
"We Can Work It Out" Archuleta absolutely slaughtered this song. He should go on "AI" immeadiately and apologize to the Beattes and all Beatles fans. "The Long and Winding Road" Easily one of the best Beatles songs and again he beat the crap out of this song. This song has so much power, just check out Billy Ocean's version.
"You're The Voice" Even the "AI" judges who have been some of Archuleta's biggest fans did not like this performance. (Randy had not even heard of it.) I think the John Farnham version of this song is excellent, but again Archuleta's version was boring. He only sang it about two minutes and it went on too long!
"Smoky Mountain Memories" he actually did okay with this song. "Angels" Guess what Archuleta picked another sappy mid tempo ballad. Again, boring.
The only thing more boring than a David Archuleta concert or him on "AI' is Nascar. Please lets vote him off asap. You may have heard of the the website votefortheworst.com which wants people to vote for the worst contestant so they can screw up "AI". I think someone should start a new website and title it voteforthemostboring.com. All you need is a picture of Archuleta and then you would be set.
Not only is he boring, his stage presence is awful. His parents have been training him to be a music star since a young age, why has he not learned how to act on the stage yet? Why does he like such sappy songs? I know he has very little life experience, but when I was 17 I would have picked a song by Van Halen, Motley Crue or Led Zeppelin. You know a song that kicks butt and would show off your skills. Of course there is probably a reason he doesn't pick a song like that, other than they probably can't get those songs approved.
I think this sums up the whole lameness of David Archuleta. On "AI" a contestant can pick any quote he can choose. What did David Archuleta pick. Now remember there are millions of quotes one can pick from such illuminaries as JFK and Martin Luther King or any other great. This is what he picks, "You'll never be lonely if you befriend yourself." Yuck!
