Random Sports Opinions

Hello,

The #10 or #12 BYU Cougars, depending on which poll you look at, play tonight. The Cougars swarm into #23 New Mexico's home arena The Pit, a place where other teams go to lose. New Mexico is 18-3 on the season and has already beat three Top 25 teams. This should be a great game that could go either way.

I hate the NFL overtime rules. At the start of overtime they flip the coin, the winner of that coin toss gets to choose between receiving the ball or not. Duh! Guess which one they pick! If they score the game is over just like that. The second team does not get a chance to score. The NFC Championship was exciting, but how much more exciting would it have been if Minnesota got a chance to score. That would have completely changed New Orleans strategy. Not only does it make the game less exciting, but it's inherently unfair. People arguing for the playoff system the way it is, will say that the team with first possession only wins 50% of the time.

The college football tiebreaker system is much better. Each team gets the chance to score and gets the ball at the 25 yard line. Then if both teams score the same amount of the points, the games move to the second playoff round. Each round gets more exciting and more difficulty.

Brett Favre please make up your mind or not if you are going to retire. Take all the time you need, but please make a decision and stick with it. Tony Romo it's time for you to retire as well and please take Wade Phillips with you.

I continue to seriously think about becoming a 49ers fan, I'm just so disappointed in the way that Dallas is moving forward. Well I don't know if moving forward is the right way to say it. Keeping Wade Phillips seems more like a backward step to me. Jerry how much does this guy have to fail in the big games before you have enough? That applies to Phillips and Romo. I think it's time to start developing the quarterback of the future.
