Mystery NBA Team: Why So Much Hype?

Hello,

Thanks to ESPN, let me give you some stats. From these stats would you say this team is worthy of the hype of a team that's actually good? This mystery team is:

1) 28-30 overall, 10-19 on the road. And against the Top 8 Western Conference teams on the road they are 1-10. This mystery team is 9th place in the playoff race, meaning they wouldn't even make the playoffs if they started today! They are 3 games behind the 8th place team.

2) Their starting shooting guard is deservedly a legend, however the pieces that surround him are very suspect. This team's point guard was good back in the day, but has lost a lot since then. Their power forward is suppose to be an all world player, but at 26 is clearly on the downhill side of his career. He can't even make 50% of his free throws, making a ghastly 3 of 14 last night. He was also caught flat footed on several plays on the defensive end, which is no surprise as he rarely gives full effort. This same player also is injury prone and hates sharing the spotlight. Their other starting forward is a terrible shooter and a thug. And their alleged center is extremely slow, injury prone and this year has been a whiner. I won't even write about their coach, but he clearly isn't the man for this team's jsob.

3) This mystery team gave up 78 points in the paint last night, 78 points! Think about that, that's against a decent offensive team. That means the mystery team has no inside presence and their opponent wasn't afraid of taking the rock to the rack. In fact they had several alley oops.

4) The mystery team was outscored 33-3 on fast break points. So not only are they are vulnerable to offensive play in the paint, but they are also slow.

What team am I talking about, obviously the Lakers. I'm glad I'm not cheering for the Lakers. I look forward to the obituaries written about this team when they miss the playoffs. Although crawling in to the 8th seed would be good too. They would get destroyed this season and have their draft pick hurt for next year. I'm sure glad that Dwight Howard isn't my favorite team's "future".
