Lakers, The Myth of Tony Romo

Hello,

I was a bit sad that the 49ers lost in the Super Bowl, but I'm glad that they were able to even make it. The 49ers are on an upwards path, I predict their core will win at least one Super Bowl. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win multiple Super Bowls. Next year San Francisco returns this very solid core, with many players careers still on the upswing. Barring injury they are set at quarterback for the next several years. I don't think Jim Harbaugh is going anywhere any time soon. Although losing in the Super Bowl was disappointing it seems the 49ers are on the doorstep of history with all their potential.

Meanwhile in Dallas the Cowboys continue to be a mediocre franchise ran by a lunatic. Dallas looks like they'll stick by soon to be 33 year old Tony Romo for at least 3 more years. Due to the lack of having a real GM, the Cowboys are going to have to sign Romo to an extension to get some salary cap relief. Dallas is in such a salary cap bind because of stupid moves like trading for Roy Williams. He's the man who counted about $7 million dollars against their cap last season. He was so bad he wasn't even on the Cowboys. The Cowboys also gave up valuable draft picks to get Williams. Great move Jerry.

Romo probably will be making about $14 million a year for basically being a great regular season quarterback. A terrible GM and a slightly above average quarterback, hmm I can't figure out why things haven't worked out for the Cowboys. Again Romo is 1-6 in win or go home games, that one win looks more and more like an aberration with each choke he adds to the losing column.

I don't even think you could consider Romo a Top Ten NFL quarterback any more, even his most ardent fans. Romo may be the worst quarterback in the NFC East. I'd definitely would rather have the dynamic RG3, and Eli Manning. Also Nick Foles is on the upswing. On ESPN Merril Hoge recently rated his Top 5 quarterbacks from a list of 10 names. Romo wasn't one of the 10 names, but Colin Kaepernick made Hoge's top 10 list. Kaepernick has passed Romo in terms of being one of the NFL's better quarterbacks. Kaepernick can win both in the regular season and the postseason.

Names not on Hoge's list of quarterback names include Russell Wilson, Michael Vick and Alex Smith. I'd definitely rather have Wilson than Romo. I'd rather have Romo than Vick and it's not even close. As for Smith or Romo, that's a toss up. Remember that Smith was the NFL's highest rated qb before he suffered the injury that opened the door for Kaepernick.

Romo is both losing respect around the league and also being left behind by many quarterbacks in the NFL. However Romo still has the only person that matters in his corner, Jerry Jones. Sure Jones is the worst GM in all of professional sports, but he also is a billionaire. So he has the money to put behind his stupid decisions. Jones is also incredibly desperate to show his way is right. Remember for Jones, it's not good enough to win, but he has to win his way. Although his way has come up short for going on 17 years now. Also Jones is a desperate owner. His desperation was clear when the 70 year old Jones hired someone, Monte Kiffin, even older than himself.

As a life long Cowboys fan, I've given up on the Cowboys winning another Super Bowl title during Jones' lifetime. Even when he dies I don't have a lot of confidence in his son.

The Lakers have won 6 of 7 games and 3 in a row and their fortunes are looking up. Well that's what their deluded fans are thinking. However clearly not all is right in Lakers land. The Big Stiffy is out 4-6 weeks with an  injured foot, will they even miss him? Hilariously Kobe Bryant is wanting Dwight Howard to have some "urgency". This makes me laugh Kobe. Howard doesn't have the same killer instinct like you Kobe. He's just in the NBA because he gets paid a lot of money. Howard is lashing out at his critics, which would take a long time if he was doing that individually.

Seriously when is the NBA going to realize that Howard isn't all that? He relied on his freak athletic skills for so long that he never learned how to be a basketball player. Now that he has to be a basketball player he's not sure how to do that. Also his conditioning doesn't seem to be that good. He seems to be always injured and again he's showing that he's not going to play through pain. Howard is only about himself. Also his limited skills are starting to deteriorate. I think the Lakers and Howard a perfect fit. One can't beat the entertainment or drama coming out of Lakers land.

Now the Lakers go into Boston to take on the Celtics. I'm not a Celtics fan at all, but I'll be cheering for them to beat the Lakers. Speaking of the Celtics, I love that they have won 5 games in a row ever since Rajon Rondo was lost for the season. Rondo is obviously a great player, but from all reports he's a very temperamental player. He seems to be an irritant to his teammates, they tolerate him more than they like him.

I love watching sports, but the great athletes always seem to get a pass. With having little or no consequences sports produces such people as Howard.
