(Started August 16th, 2013, Updated March 4th, 2023) themusicaddict's Part 1 of 80s New Wave Classics

Hello,

With none of my page views since my last published blog on February 20th getting any views I continue to go back and revamp and revise blogs from at least a couple of years ago and backwards. I think I'm going to focus on Blogger blogs for text and share videos on my WordPress blog themusicaddictblog.com The videos don't play here on blogspot for some reason, but they do work on my blog. Someday hopefully I'll be able to get everything figured out.

I broke my Mega 80's music blog into many different categories, I won't change my original Mega 80's music blog though. I enjoy making these kind of blogs and I hope you enjoy them too. As always I welcome all comments, both negative and positive. All you have to do is to leave a comment on any post and I see it almost immediately. I also take requests, although they may not make it on to the blog.

Remember if for some reason you can't watch a video on this blog, please enjoy it on Youtube.com, MTV.com or wherever else you can. It would be a shame not to enjoy the greatest music of all-time. The inspiration for these blogs comes from Spotify 80's radio, SongPop game on Facebook, Youtube, my iPod and my own faulty memory.

Enjoy these New Wave classics, well at least they should be. I've picked songs that were obscure, of course I'll add some of New Wave's greatest hits. I can't speak to what a member of the current teen generation thinks when they hear the phrase "new wave". However I'm sure they'd be more interested if I named them some of the popular so-called New Wave bands. New Wave didn't have a particular sound,  the movement was mostly made of bands that were on the fringe in some way.

Generally the people that listened to this kind of music were also people on the fringe, which is why many teenagers embraced this music so much. Of course this was the 80s, most people listened to multiple genres. The 80s were a more naive and innocent time. I was also on the fringe but I wasn't part of the new wave scene. I didn't really start liking the music until many years later. The story of my life is missing out on things when they are popular only to discover them much later.

However "new wave" did have some very popular bands as well. Those bands included U2, Oingo Boingo, R.E.M., The Smiths, David Bowie, Tears For Fears, Billy Idol,  The Violent Femmes, The Cars, Sinead O'Connor, New Order, INXS, Midnight Oil and many others.

1) The Cure's "Just Like Heaven":

2) Fun Boy Three "The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum":

The Motels had at least 5 great songs, they weren't a one hit wonder by any stretch of the imagination. However when they released their greatest hits CD they filled it out with a of a lot of bad songs. A few good songs surrounded by a lot of crap makes for a terrible CD. Just buy those five great songs. Those songs are "Remember The Nights", "Suddenly Last Summer", "Shame", "Only The Lonely" and 3) "Take The L":

One of the most butt kicking songs of the 80s, of any genre. 4) Missing Persons "Words":

One of my favorite combined 80s videos/ songs 5) 'Til Tuesday "Voices Carry":

This song features one of my favorite lyrics from any song ever, "Little things remind me of you: cheap cologne and that damn song too." 6) The Flirts "Don't Put Another Dime In The Jukebox":

The 80s quirky sense-of-humor, what a great song. You could only make videos in the 80s if you had no shame, I love the wacky, tacky 80s. 7) Toto Coelo "I Eat Cannibals":

Here's a medley of one hit wonders for you, um I only remember about half of these songs. About half of these songs I haven't thought of for years. 8) JoBoxers "Just Got Lucky":

9) Haysi Fantayzee "Shiny, Shiny":

10) Oxo "Whirly Girl":

11) The Plimsouls' "A Million Miles Away":

12) Tracey Ullman "They Don't Know":

This was my favorite band when I was growing up and they'll always hold a special place in my heart. 13) Blondie's "Atomic":

14) Blondie's "Dreaming":

One of the best songs by an one hit band ever, 15) Modern English's "I Melt With You":

16) Tears For Fears "Mother's Milk (We Can Work It Out"):

17) New Order's "Round and Round":

Can you tell who one of my favorite bands, not just 80s bands, are?
