(Finished June 30th, 2021) Part 2 of Great Modern Rock (Mostly) Covers of Classic Songs

Hello,

Why does taking a great song and adding a rock feel to it make the great song even better? I don't really know the answer to that question. It's even better when the band remaking the song puts their own spin on that song and not a note for note recreation. The Five Finger Death Punch directly below is a bit harder than I would like, although it's still a fine version. Although no one will ever top the Animals original.

18) Five Finger Death Punch "House of The Rising Sun":

18b) The House on Cliff "House of The Rising Sun":

19) Smashing Pumpkins "Landslide":

20) Rage Against The Machine "Renegades":

21) Zakk Wylde "Mississippi Queen":

22) Deftones "Drive":

Not a bad version, but this makes me remember how great Prince's original version is. 23) Foo Fighters "Darling Nikki":

24) Black Stone Cherry "Can't You See":

Here's a twofer for you. 25) Needtobreathe "Got My Mojo Workin'/ Folsom Prison Blues":

25b) Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown "Got My Mojo Workin'":

26) Relient K "Africa":

27) Everlast "Folsom Prison":

28) Metallica "Turn The Page":

29) Urge Overkill "Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon":

30a) Social Distortion "Ring of Fire":

30b) Raised On Vinyl "Ring of Fire":

31) Machine Head "Message In A Bottle":

32) Dishwalla "It's Going To Take Some Time":

33) Sick Puppies "Say My Name":

34) Alien Ant Farm "Smooth Criminal":

(Started June 29th, 2021) Part 1 of Great Modern Rock (Mostly) Covers of Classic Songs

Hello,

Why does taking a great song and adding a rock feel to it make a great song even better? For instance Three Days Grace "The Chain" is a great cover of a great original. I'm not saying it's better than the Fleetwood Mac original, both versions are great.

1a) Three Days Grace "The Chain":

1b) Wild Fire "The Chain":

Not a rock cover, but still an amazing cover of this amazing Fleetwood Mac original. This has got to be one of the best covers of all-time. I especially love the harmonies. 1c) The Highwomen "The Chain":

2) Kon Kan "I Beg Your Pardon":

This cover is sorta meh. 3) Disturbed "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You":

4) Lizzy Hale, Maria Brink and Taylor Momsen "We Will Rock You":

5) Mark Morton and Lzzy Hale "She Talks To Angels":

6) Diamante and Breaking Benjamin "Iris":

I love how well their voices blend together. 7) Halsey and Kelsea Ballerini "Dreams":

8) Chris Cornell "Showdown":

9) Chris Cornell "Watching The Wheels":

I wasn't expecting much from this cover and it was pretty disappointing. I like some of Miley's music, but am I the only one that doesn't think she can sing? 10a) Miley Cyrus "Wish You Were Here":

Can Larkin Poe do better? Still nowhere as good as the original, but a step up from the above version. 10b) Larkin Poe "Wish You Were Here":

11) Smith & Myers "Rockin' In The Free World":

Not a big Nirvana fan, but that being said this is one of my favorite covers ever. 12) Nirvana "Where Did You Sleep Last Night":

13) The Ataris "The Boys of Summer":

14) Reel Big Fish "Take On Me":

15) Deftones "No Ordinary Love":

16) Disturbed "Sounds of Silence":

17) Tool "No Quarter":

(Finished June 28th, 2021) Part 2 of The Wallflowers and Other New Music

Hello,

I love rock music- first and foremost- but I also love pop and country. I basically love most songs that have a rock vibe, but that doesn't go to the extremes of screamo. I want to understand the words so I can sing along. I am not a big hip hop fan. I've reached the age where nearly all hip hop sounds the same. These are some of the best new songs I've found- mostly thanks to YouTube.

I love hearing new music- sorta new from Prince and Dua Lipa, Barenaked Ladies, twenty one pilots and Night Ranger.

18) Cynthia Ervio "The Good":

19) Dua Lipa "We're Good":

20) Mabel "Let Them Know":

21) Jackson Browne "My Cleveland Heart":

22) Jackson Browne "Downhill From Everywhere":

23) Jackson Browne "A Little Soon To Say":

24) Jena Rose "Checkmate":

25) twenty one pilots "Shy Away":

28) Imagine Dragons "Cutthroat":

29) Bebe Rexha "Sacrifice":

30) Night Ranger "Breakout":

31) Barenaked Ladies "Flip":

32) Barenaked Ladies "New Disaster":

I think both of these songs have been around for awhile. I'm calling them new as they are set to be released as a 12 song CD on July 30, 2021. 33) Prince "Born 2 Die":

The above mentioned CD is called "Welcome 2 America". 34) Prince "Welcome 2 America":

(Finished June 26th, 2021) The Best of Billboard's #2 Songs, Part 3

Hello,

Whoever knew how many songs had peaked at #2, it's a lot. For about 90% of these songs it's so very sad that they didn't break into the #1 position. But not every song, no matter how great, can reach #1. Reaching #2 is quite an accomplishment.

Easily one of my favorite of Madonna's songs. 35) Madonna "Express Yourself":

36) CCR "Who'll Stop The Rain":

37) Alias "More Than Words Can Say":

38) The Cowsills "Hair":
