Sports Thoughts: Dallas Cowboys and NBA Championship Kryptonite

Hello,

Congrats to Kobe Bryant for being the youngest player to score 30,000 in the NBA. I'm not a big fan of his, but I respect his will and desire to win. Although I enjoyed the Thunder dominating the Lakers last night, Bryant was making some amazing shots. I was most impressed with his 4 point play.

Too bad for him he's on the same team as Dwight Howard, a person that's coasting on his talent. He clearly doesn't do the work to become an even better player. He and Kobe have already had one argument, I predict they'll have a few more before the season ends. The Lakers won't win the NBA Title this year and I would be very surprised if they even reach the Western Conference Finals. Howard will be playing for a new team next season.

But hey congrats to Howard last night for actually shooting above 50% from the free throw line. He made 5 of 7 free throws.

One of the things I hate most about Howard, next to his obvious lack of effort, is the constant sarcastic smiles he has. He's like Cam Newton in that he's trying to come off as this very personable person, but anyone with eyes can see they are only about themselves. The luster of Newton's shine is already coming off and the same thing is happening with Howard.

Also Amare Stoudemire I wish you would hurry up and come back to the Knicks. They are playing too well and need you to get in the way. The Knicks are living a charmed life now and it's only a matter of time until they crash. The Knicks have two players who are championship kryptonite in Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony.

Also Pau Gasol going to Minnesota, that would make me laugh. The Big Stiffy lands in The Big Frigid. I'm sorry Minnesota, you don't deserve The Big Stiffy.

Josh Hamilton still hasn't ended up anywhere and Texas acts like they are in no rush to sign him. I hope he doesn't end up playing for anyone of my teams.

Who wants to be the next Colorado Buffaloes coach? It seems like no one. Can you blame everyone that has turned down the job so far? Who would want to take over a team with that little of potential? The lure of the top heavy Pac 12 isn't that much. Oregon, Stanford and the 10 little dwarves. Colorado only gave their previous coach two years. Whoever takes that job needs to hold out for at least 3 guaranteed years to coach, that coach will be starting out at a serious disadvantage. Colorado is a nice place to live though and the money is good at least.

Dear Colorado: you don't need to ask me, no I won't coach your team. That will save you embarrassment of getting turned down by yet someone else.

I do wonder if there's going to be NHL season this year. It's hard for me to believe that with all that money on the line, the two sides can't come to some kind of compromise. Professional hockey continues to shoot itself in the foot.

Last and least. The terrible Dallas Cowboys go to Cincinnati to try and improve their slim chances of making the playoffs. Dallas is now 6-6, if the playoffs started today Dallas wouldn't be in them. Under the brutal touch of Jerry Jones and the mindless coaching of Jason Garrett the Cowboys are in trouble. My hope is that the Bengals score early and often on their way to a dominating performance. Then when the Cowboys finish the season below .500 I hope that Jones finally comes to his senses and fires Garrett. Then Jerry needs to do whatever he can to sign Sean Payton to come to the Cowboys and then stay the hell out of his way.

Jerry you owe us this after manhandling the Cowboys for the last 17 years. No more part solutions either. Pick someone that actually knows football and not someone just because you like them. Also no more puppets. You aren't a very good puppet master and even a worse GM.
