Man Up Dwight Howard, "Friday Night Lights" Hot Women, Quick Reviews

Hello,

Welcome to blog #851 of themusicaddict. No children were harmed in the writing of this blog :)

My middle son bought me a MLB calender that has birthdays of current and former MLB players. So occasionally I will wish someone a happy birthday. Today's birthday wish goes to Kenny Lofton, the former Indians speedster. Happy 44th, I'll be joining you soon at that age. I hope you don't feel as old as I do.

Last week, May 28th, was Kirk Gibson's birthday. Being a life long Dodgers fan that name brings up all sorts of happy memories. He hit the amazing home run against the A's and Dennis Eckersley that propelled the Dodgers to their last World Series title. What a contrast to what the Dodgers have become. Now the Dodgers owner can barely cover payroll and probably won't be able to do it all season. Oh how far the Dodgers have fallen. Thankfully MLB already has come in and started saving them.

Let's start off with sports first. Jim Tressel was forced out yesterday as head football coach at Ohio State University. Obviously his program is rife with corruption and a change needed to be made. However one can't help but to think that maybe some of the rules do more harm than good. A college player is suppose to dedicate himself to his team and school and then has little money and little time for himself. There are so many things blocking an athlete from making money. A hard look should be taken at rules guiding athletes. There's got to be a better way.

Tonight starts the NBA Finals, I'm officially cheering for Miami. Strangely enough that is also the team I predict to win. I'm so tired of all this praise that Dirk Nowitski is receiving. People are trying to decide where does his postseason rank in all-time individual postseason performances. He's been rightly called a choker for his career. Now he has one good postseason and all of a sudden people are talking about him becoming one of the Top Ten players of all-time? A trivia question: In between the 2006 NBA Finals and this season's postseason how many playoff series did the Mavericks win? Here's the answer: 1. Shouldn't he change his name to Dirk Nowinski? Can we wait until Dirk wins a NBA title, which won't be this year, before we start over praising him? Also can someone please break Jason Terry's arms the next time he does that stupid jet gesture? Jason it's time to stop getting your ideas from junior high playgrounds.

I also will be glad when the Heat and Dwayne Wade win the NBA Title this year. I'm especially glad that he won't have to share this title with Shaq. Could you imagine how dominant Shaq would have been if he would have ever cared about winning? Shaq, it's time for you to retire and fade away from the public eye. Kobe has a lot of haters, but no one can argue how much he wants to win.

Going from a former Magic center to the current Magic center, Dwight Howard. He's got to be one of the whiniest NBA players currently. When isn't Dwight Howard whining? Thanks to espn.go.com this is his latest whine: "I want to start my own path and I want people to follow my path and not just follow somebody else's path. I want to have my own path, and I want to start that here in Orlando. But I can't do it alone. Not only do I need the right teammates, but I need the city behind me. That's the only way it's going to get done. We can change this small city that we have -- this small market that we have -- and we can make it a big market."

Dwight haven't you already started your own path? Although only the second highest player on the team, aren't you suppose to be the team leader? Let me remind you that whining about wanting things to change isn't leadership. If you haven't already started your own "path" in Orlando, whose fault is that? No one is asking you to do it alone. Your front office pulled off a couple of major trades last season to try and get you more help. Sure they brought in Gilbert Arenas, but their heart was in the right place.

Yes you need the right teammates, but you also need to be the right teammate to them. You already have teammates and whining about them, how is that helping their morale? How are you showing leadership? Why don't you use this off season, which could be extended, to go out and recruit some players to help your team? All these things you are whining about can will be improved with your leadership. How to get Orlando behind you, it's simple Dwight. Man up and shut up. You might want to see how things are working in Miami where there seems to be plenty of leadership.

Finally how are you going to make Orlando a "big market". I know you NBAers like to sleep with anything that moves, but even your talents here won't be enough to grow Orlando significantly.

I had my kids Sunday night so I wasn't able to see "The Killing" until last night. Am I the only one who was more than a little disappointed to learn that the Adela was a boat? Also wasn't it just a little convenient that Linden happened to go jogging where the Adela was docked? There have been a few convenient things that have happened that drove me crazy.

Bennet Ahmed no longer is a suspect, he's the hospital battling for his life. Some people are now saying that Darren Richmond is Rosie's murderer. Do you think so? I don't and honestly would be disappointed if he was the killer. It's just not very satisfying. Although it would explain why Richmond was so adamant that Bennet wasn't the killer. Of course if Richmond was the killer, wouldn't he be wanting Ahmed to take the rap for him?

I think the only thing Richmond is guilty of is bad judgment, including who he surrounds himself with in his campaign staff. I suggest that Rosie Larsen was also guilty of bad judgment, but hers led to her death. So if Bennet or Richmond isn't the killer who is? I know it remains a long shot, but I still think the Dad is the killer. We have seen his proclivity for violence and we have seen how easily he is manipulated by his wife. Also a few episodes ago he took a deep whiff of his daughter's dress, which was more than a little creepy. He has been wanting to move on from her death relatively quickly.

Stan Larsen is an enigma. He was the one who beat Bennet, but he was also the one that called 911. He then turned himself in and in open court admitted he beat Bennet. I think he essentially is a good man, but he has some serious flaws.

Linden's ex fiance showed up and Linden finally admitted that she was no longer interested in that relationship. Of course viewers have known that for several episodes. But what is going on with her, why did they suddenly move out of the boat? I know that 15 year olds don't think they need anyone to watch out for them, but I would disagree. So who's watching Jack now? Both Jack and his Mom, Sarah, need to confront their issues that they have or it will make for a hard life. They both still have issues with Sarah's ex-husband leaving them and that has been 10 years!

Only 3 more episodes left for this season of "The Killing", I predict many more plot twists and turns. I just hope they are more logical and satisfying than some of the previous plot twists have been. What was Rosie up to at the Indian casino and who was she meeting? Why do I get the feeling that she's not as wholesome as she has been portrayed.

Quick reviews: If you've seen any of the first three "Pirates of The Caribbean", you've seen the one that was just released into movie theatres. A bunch of double crosses, sometimes you lose track of who is on who's side. No one knows what Jack Sparrow's agenda is, sometimes I don't think he even does.

"Kung Fu Panda 2": A movie that you can take or leave. A fairly generic movie, you've seen the basic story in other and better movies. The fact that one has to pay extra to see this movie in 3D is a final slap.

Foo Fighters "Wasting Light", initially I was a big fan of this CD. However this CD does not pass the car test. What's the car test? It's when I put a CD in my car and I listen to it, I really listen to it. For some reason I focus a lot more on music playing when I'm driving than when I'm writing this blog or just relaxing. I got tired of "Wasting Light" pretty quickly. Even the song I initially really liked, "Back and Forth" has become lame. I went through a Foo Fighters phase, I now see them as a slightly more classy version of Nickelback.

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", I'm referring to the 17 song extended CD. This CD does better on the car test than the Foo Fighters CD, but ultimately doesn't pass either. This CD has some amazing songs on it, but in the end not enough. Gaga should have deleted 3 or 4 songs and this would have been a much better CD. However the highlights are very high. I love the song "Born This Way", her catchiest hook since "Bad Romance". I also love "You and I". Although the lyrics are a bit vague in who she's singing it too, I think it will still be played at many weddings. I also like "Judas" and "Scheibe" and have a feeling "Edge of Glory" will grow on me. Again the pushing of the boundaries with the lyrics becomes tiring. Maybe instead of focusing on pushing boundaries, maybe Gaga you can focus on writing good lyrics.

Finally "Friday Night Lights", this is a show I've never seen previous to this past weekend. But thanks to Comcast On Demand I've become hooked. I watched 6 episodes over the weekend and enjoyed them very much. It has excellent stories and amazing actors and characters. "The Killing" can take a clue from this show on how to have several interesting plot lines at one time. Not only that but this show has a collection of some amazing looking women. It's a virtual eye candy store.

This is in no particular order, first up is Madison Burge. This picture doesn't do justice to her. She's one of those pretty women you have to watch on TV to truly appreciate.

Um, if girls were this hot when I was in high school, I would have never wanted to leave. I'm glad Jurnee Smollet had something too fall back on when "The Defenders" ended. Although "FNL" is also ending all too soon.

Next we have the hot Mom, Connie Britton. She's 44 and looking amazing. How is her football coach husband able to focus on football with her around? I can barely concentrate when she's on screen and I'm nowhere near her.

TA's of the world you have hope, too bad all college students aren't as gorgeous as the delectable Aimee Teegarden.

And on that note, have a great day. Also go Heat!
