"The Walking Dead", Dating for the Undead

This is a friend's book, "Wilderness" he's drawing attention to the book he has written. Check it out on facebook. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=304984697029 He describes the book as: "I've written a novel called “Wilderness” which I'm sending out to agents (think "Calvin and Hobbes" written by Neil Gaiman)" He also says "one who friends the group will not get any messages from me, they will just be helping a young aspiring novelist." I think that's a worthy cause.

Hello,

Last night was the first of 6 episodes of the highly anticipated series "The Walking Dead", a 1.5 hour debut. It was both good, intense and a little bit frightening. I love how the story starts with the main character, Rick Grimes, waking up in the hospital just coming out of a coma. Yes, I know that's the start of "28 Days Later", but apparently this story line originated with "The Walking Dead". (At least that's what all the nerds and fan boys say online.) And why is the babe quotient so low in zombie shows?

I love how the living are sent to Atlanta and find it's a dead city, unless your a zombie. Was that just an elaborate ruse or did the zombies overrun the compound? Will we find out what exactly happened there? And I like how the zombies have some kind of monitoring system set up. There was a zombie just waiting patiently outside of the house of the man and his son who protected Grimes. Also once Grimes got into the city, the two zombies in the burned out bus got out of their seats and passively herded Grimes to where the majority of Zombies were waiting for him. Who is that guy calling Grimes on the CB in the tank? He talks like he doesn't have any worries. Where is he? What does he want? and How is Rick going to get out of the tank?

"The Dawn of The Dead" which was on right before was okay. I like how the Johnny Cash song "The Man Comes Around" played in "Dawn of The Dead". That would have been appropriate for "The Walking Dead" as well. With "The Walking Dead" the producers had the actors portraying the zombies go to a zombie school so they would know to play their role. In other words, the zombies don't run full speed like in "Dawn of the Dead". Obviously this is all fiction, but it seems more logical to me that a virus ridden zombie may not be at his full human capacity. I also think that its consistent that they do exhibit a level of intelligence though. If they were completely brain dead, they wouldn't be able to feed. The most unbelievable thing in "Dawn of the Dead" is that they go to the marina and "escape". How much food do they have on board? Where are they going to go to ever be safe? How much gas does the boat have? What are they going to do once the boat runs out of gas? That ending is completely bogus. I hope "The Walking Dead" ends a lot more intelligently.

Anyway "The Walking Dead" is a good series so far. I can tell because I thought a lot about it today and last night. One thing I didn't like was the constant hyping of the show, including a countdown while "Dawn of the Dead" was showing. AMC you only need to do that when the product is crap.

But I have to give the unintentional comedy award to eharmony.com. They sponsored "The Walking Dead". Really? Did not anyone think that was a bit bizarre? As I mentioned above the zombies should display some level of intelligence and apparently they are also still dating. Although I'm not sure if dating is a sign of intelligence. It's good that there's a dating site for the undead. Not everyone can go to high school and meat one's Bella. In these modern, politically correct times I think eharmony.com should branch out and find love for vampires, werewolves etc. That's only fair. This essentially is one of those fill in your own joke here situations. Does eharmony match up zombies as well as humans? Are the nerds of the world not finding the right people, so eharmony needs to advertise on shows like this. Which of the groups have the most luck in finding mates? I'm guessing that out of all groups, nerds fare the worse. :) Honestly who wouldn't one to go out with these hotties?
