Hello,
I had the awful experience of watching one of the worst movies I've ever seen last night. It's Daniel Day-Lewis' film "There Will Be Blood". Everything about this movie is horrible. The music is horrible, most of the time the music was annoying and didn't add to the film. The story is horrible. The story basically is a guy accidentally discovers oil, becomes a very rich man. He screws everyone he possibly can, including his adopted son. The worst thing is there's no purpose to do it, he just doesn't like other people. The story is vile and reprehensible on every level.
The actor, Paul Dano, playing Paul and Eli Sunday is okay. I hated the two slimy, weaselly characters he played. That was the purpose of his acting. The portrayal of religious people is horrible. This whole movie is a parody, especially the way they parody people who are religious. The way Daniel Day Lewis talks in the film is horrible. What is the point of him talking like that? Again it's a parody of an oil man. That the movie is 2.5 hours long is horrible. There was no need for the movie to be that long, this movie had so much filler. This movie is so bad that it's even worse than reading the above paragraphs.
I kept on watching the damn thing to the extremely bitter end, hoping there would be some salvation. Unfortunately there wasn't. I wouldn't even call this a movie, it's just a series of slightly connected plot points.
Here's the trailer for the movie, watching this trailer may make you want to watch this movie. However watching this trailer after seeing the movie, it reminded me of all the things I hated about this movie.
This movie was voted the best movie of 2007 by many prominent critics and even was named the best movie of the decade by Peter Travers of Rolling Stone. It was also nominated for 8 Oscars, winning two. Daniel Day-Lewis, a terrific actor usually, captured the best actor Oscar. I'm not sure why, he overacted his role. Although he was up against some good actors in this category, none of the other actors had outstanding movies they were in. Either did Day-Lewis. I question his victory just for the voice he used. "There Will Be Blood" also won the Oscar for best cinematography.
Surprisingly it wasn't nominated for any Razzies, maybe they were too frightened of Daniel Day-Lewis. I can't blame them for that. I just don't know what else to write, this movie just blew in every way imaginable. There is absolutely nothing good to say about this film- NOTHING!
I watched this movie free on Comcast On Demand and it wasn't even worth that much. This movie was the same year as "No Country For Old Men", a movie that's considerably better than the crap on my foot that's "There Will Be Blood".
