Today's College Football, A great, great song

Hello,

Let's start off with this great song first:

The above is just one of Keith Whitley's many amazing songs. You can purchase the Essential Keith Whitley now at iTunes for only $9.99. It's 20 of his best songs. Keith Whitley died much too early but he left behind a treasure chest of great music.

As I write this West Virginia is locked in a battle with Rutgers, leading 14-0 early. It looks like #24 West Virginia will win this game. Due to the stupidity of the BCS, the Big Least gets an automatic BCS bid. They are one of the alleged "power conferences". Thus West Virginia will probably be going to a BCS Bowl. Are you kidding me, an 8-3 team in a BCS bowl? TCU will be in the Big Least conference soon and they'll show the rest of the conference what major college football really looks like.

Then at 4:00pm, in what I hope becomes called the Karma Bowl, #2 Auburn will play South Carolina in the SEC Championship. With the NCAA's bizarre ruling that Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is eligible, even though they acknowledge that that his Dad was shopping him around, I'm hoping the karma gods rise up and slap down Auburn today. Go South Carolina! Although they do need to get a more manly mascot.

I would also love to see Auburn lose in hopes that TCU gets the chance to play in the National Championship game. Although if that scenario is to happen, I can see the BCS finding a way to deny them the opportunity. TCU's regular season is over.

At 3:30 EST #1 Oregon will play and probably destroy Oregon State. I'm not really caring who wins this game. I know Oregon State is playing at home, I just don't know how they can beat Oregon. Oregon has that blur offense and I don't know if anybody can stop them.

For those of you who are friends of mercy, please pray for Utah State. One of the nation's worst college football programs Utah State goes into Boise to play one of the best college football programs Boise State. That game tips off at 3:00 EST. Unlike the coach of Wisconsin, BSU coach Chris Peterson doesn't believe in running up the score. He's not one of the idiots that's playing to satisfy the BCS's idiotic idea of "style points". Style points as defined by BCS advocates is to score as many points as a team can on a hapless opponent.

If Peterson bought into that nonsense, BSU could win today's game by a score of approximately 80-7. However BSU will probably take the foot off the pedal in the third or fourth quarter and only win 55-7.

At 7:45 EST, it's the ACC Championship Game, another conference with not very many good teams. I'm predicting that Virginia Tech will defeat Florida State in a close game. I'll also be cheering for Virginia Tech to win to further legitimatize BSU as a Top 5 team in that nation. Although since BSU lost once- once to a fired up Nevada team playing at home- they are also going to be relegated to a meaningless bowl game. I hate the BCS!!

There are other games today, none of the other games have very much importance. Two mediocre teams will play when USC-UCLA kick off at 10:30pm EST. At 1:00 pm EST Nevada will blow out La. Tech. Poor Nevada they've only lost one game, beat the #3 BSU Broncos and when it comes bowl time, they'll undeservedly be rewarded with a crappy bowl. Meanwhile a less successful Big East team will receive an automatic BCS bid. One thing for sure about today's games, it proves again that there needs to be a playoff.
