It's been announced that "Revolution" and "Go On" have received full season pick-ups. While doing some research about "Revolution" I stumbled across this corporate America speak. Be careful you'll want to puke after reading what the two paragraphs. This is a direct quote from NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.
“We’re impressed with the imagination and creative direction of the entire team on Revolution, not to mention the immediately strong response we got from the audience,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke in a statement. “Ordering the full season of this show is a pleasure. Thanks to J.J. Abrams, Erik Kripke, Jon Favreau, and everyone at Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television for their dedication to making a truly unique series. And I personally love to escape into a world where there is no power, the phone doesn’t ring, and the pace of life slows down — if only for one hour a week!
“We’re also very proud of our new comedy block of Go On and The New Normal. In partnering with Matthew Perry for Go On, creator Scott Silveri has created a comedy with a highly original voice that deftly combines humor and emotion. And Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler have created a truly unique family in The New Normal that is reflective of the changing dynamics of the world we live in. These shows are both welcome additions to our new lineup!”
According to ew.com it sounds like "The Mob Doctor" is close to being cancelled. Does that surprise anyone? Whoever approved this show to make it on to air should be fired. I haven't seen a decision this bad made in the entertainment industry since Randy Jackson was hired for "American Idol". Why is a premise this dumb even allowed to get past filming the pilot.
It is said "The revolution will be televised." However I'm not sure that this "Revolution" should be televised.
While NBC is patting themselves on the back for "Revolution", I don't share their same enthusiasm. I honestly think "Revolution" is already going downhill in terms of quality. The first episode was good, but it wasn't amazing. I'll start out with the good things about "Revolution". I love that there's actually science fiction on TV. I enjoy how "Revolution" is exploring how and why the Monroe Republic began. I like that it started as a way to protect people who couldn't protect themselves. But of course power corrupts. So without checks and balances, the militia became what it was originally trying to prevent.
Now some of the bad things about "Revolution". At first I liked Tracy Spirdakos as Charlie. However after just a few episodes she really has begun to wear on my nerves. I hate all her pained and whiny faces that she makes. That's not acting Tracy, that's mugging. She reminds me a bit of Kristen Stewart, neither have the ability to play such a big role. Another "actor" that really bugs is Zak Orth, he plays the alleged Google millionaire. I'm sorry, but that to me is completely unbelievable. When he was rattling on about the destroyed computer they discovered, it seemed like the first time those tech words had come out of his mouth.
Another lame thing was when Miles et al. were trapped by the militia. Their big escape plan was to dig a tunnel? Really? Did they think that the militia were going to camp out for a few weeks? That was the best the writers could come up with. Then amazingly they were able to build quite a bit of the tunnel in only a few short hours. Even the militia leader noted how unlikely it was for the gunman to have so many bullets. (Was that the writers saying, "We know this is ridiculous, just go with it"? The whole sniper scene seemed to be like some inside joke.) The gunman held off the militia for several hours. Isn't that the dumbest militia leader ever? The gunman keeps on picking off the militia as they come one at a time. So here's an idea, send more than one person at a time! Or send a few men around the back of their shelter!
I also loved how Clayton, Miles and Charlie were able to overwhelm a well trained militia unit. (Miles said he trained them. And after they were so thoroughly out smarted, I believe him. I'm sorry but Billy Burke is one of the most unbelievable action heroes ever.) Did you see
The previews for next week indicate that someone will die in that episode. Can I pick who dies please? Can we get rid of Aaron, Charlie, Miles or all three? How about we get rid of Danny, seriously is he suppose to be so weak? I'm not referring to his asthma either. I'm referring to how wimpy he is, he's low rent Robert Pattinson. David Lyons as a fearsome militia leader? This isn't a strong cast. NBC paid all this money to produce this show and these were the best actors they could come up with?
The best actor is Tim Guinee, but he's killed in the first episode. (That is if he really died.) Guinee needs to continue his great role on the far superior "The Good Wife". Giancarlo Esposito as Captain Tom Neville is also great. But we saw too little of him in "No Quarter". I do like Elizabeth Mitchell, but where is her character at? Daniella Alonso as Nora Clayton also does a good job. She's very belivable as a warrior, Spirdakos not so much.
This show so wants to be "Lost", but at this rate it will never be. "Lost" had several great actors playing several great characters. (Although I do wonder why all their actors, except Terry O'Quinn, have mostly disappeared.) The writing on "Lost's" first couple of seasons was amazing. I'll never forget the amazing episode "Walkabout", where we find out that John Locke was paralyzed before getting to the island. The only thing the two shows will share is Juliet Mitchell.
After "Revolution" ended last night, I thought to myself that I should have watched "Castle". Thank goodness for the DVR so that I can watch it tonight. That is if I'm not watching the MLB. Go Red Sox, Orioles, Dodgers and A's.
