Hello,
Another mediocre performance from the Cowboys this past Sunday. That loss drops the Cowboys to 2-3 on the season and last place in the NFC East. As someone very wise said, the Cowboys can find new ways to lose a game. 34 seconds left in the game and the Cowboys were only able to get one play off before a field goal attempt? Why didn't the Cowboys use timeouts, spike the ball or run plays near the sideline? That's just Football 101, hell even I know that. Who's to blame? Obviously the coach, the players and the idiot that won't fire himself, Jerry Jones.
Dallas has become so bad, and such a joke, that Cowboys fans are hoping for Jones' death. I'd never wish that on him, but football has clearly passed him by. I wish the Cowboys had an owner like Robert Kraft, who currently owns the Patriots. Of course, the Patriots also have a much better coach and qb. Kraft seems to demand results from his team, whereas Jones ego is his main decision maker. I'd think that his ego would want the Cowboys to win, but he's more about how he's perceived. I say perceived rather than looks, because he looks like an idiot.
What I mean by his ego being the decision maker is if Jason Garrett or Tony Romo ever lead the Boys to anything significant, then he can take the credit as sticking by their side through the rough times. But I think that train passed a long time ago. Jones would rather be seen as being the main reason for the Cowboys success than perceived as an owner who stays out of the spotlight as his team wins. Jones realizes that no one would care what he thinks if he didn't own the Cowboys.
Jones still thinks the Cowboys are a Super Bowl contender for this season. (Seriously you couldn't make up stuff this delusional.) What a dreamer. But it's us Cowboys fans living the nightmare.
The Cowboys need to blow up their whole organization and start over. It's time to establish a plan and stick to it. No matter how painful it is. Even if there are a few bad seasons, Dallas will need to stick to those plans. Because honestly now we are having bad seasons and not even making the playoffs. There is no discernible plan in place. So what's the difference if the Boys lose a few more games each season as long as a realistic plan is in place. The Cowboys need to return to their past glory by making many significant runs in the playoffs. (Example: the Patriots. A team that's in the Super Bowl conversation every season.) Significant = NFC Championship Game.
It would be one thing if the Cowboys were actually making progress, but they aren't. They are the same mediocre team year after year after year.....
The Cowboys are 0-1 in their current stretch of games, in which they play four of five games on the road. I predict they'll win no more than one of those games. Their only home game in that span is with the New York Giants. That's the same team that just smacked the 49ers around in San Francisco. And New York is the same team that lost to Dallas the first game of the season. The Giants will be fired up when they go to Dallas for the rematch. They'll beat Dallas in the Death Star on October 28th. That loss will get Cowboys fans in the mood for Halloween. If my prediction happens Dallas would drop to 3-7. It would yet be another year of Dallas not making the playoffs.
That will probably lead to another offseason where the Cowboys won't make any significant changes. But there's no reason for Jerry to make changes, the Cowboys are making him a very wealthy man.
Honestly nothing is going to change until Jones steps down as GM or dies. He won't get rid of his boy Tony Romo soon, he's thinking about signing him to an extension. This would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. If I hear one more idiot say that Romo is better than Eli Manning, I'm going to scream. If he's better, then why does Eli Manning have two Super Bowl rings and Romo only has 1 playoff victory? Jones will eventually get rid of Garrett. But so what, Jones will continue to do a terrible job of hiring head coaches. He's the same man who hired Wade Phillips, Dave Campo, Garrett and others that never were good coaches. Obviously on the flip side, that points out all the good coaches he didn't hire.
Cowboys I wash my hands of you until either you significantly improve or make the tough choices to get this team finally on the right track. I find I'm losing my interest in hoping you win, in fact with each loss it increases the chance that real change will occur.
Dallas, when you are ready to make significant changes, come and find me. Meanwhile I'll be cheering for the 49ers. A team with a true football man in charge, a man that only cares about winning. A team that has a slightly above average quarterback. However instead of expecting too much of him, they put him a place to win.
Ok, I'll always follow the Cowboys. But to paraphrase what Led Zeppelin sings about a woman "I can't quit you, So i'm going to put you down for awhile."
