Why is Jerry Jones Surprised That the Cowboys Are So Mediocre?

Hello,

I made the mistake of watching most of the Cowboys-Bears game last night. There's no other way to put it other than the Bears completely dominated the game. Jerry Jones seems to be surprised that the Cowboys are so mediocre. I'm not sure why though.Dallas is a team that has won about half of it's games over the last 15 years. Last season they were 8-8 and finished third place in the 4 team NFC East. This season they 2-2 and have only looked really good in one of those games. In both of their losses, Dallas looked terrible and had so many of their weaknesses exposed. Also the Cowboys have only made the playoffs one of the last four years. So why Jones, or anyone else, is surprised by how mediocre these Cowboys are makes no sense.

Now why are the Cowboys so mediocre? Jerry Jones is their General Manager, what else do you need to know? Who is the Cowboys starting quarterback? It's the slightly above average Tony Romo. Jones, the ultimate salesman/ con man continues to insist on how great Romo is. That's something different than Romo's slim resume says. Again Romo has only one playoff win to his credit. Romo has a good game every 4 or 5 games games and people think that he's finally turned the corner. Romo had a great game against the Giants. A lot of people were fooled, even me partially. However since then Romo has fell back to his normal level. Last night Romo's first two interceptions weren't his fault. Romo leads the NFL with 8 interceptions. As hard as it is to believe the Cowboys are actually considering extending Romo's contract.

Those interceptions were because of mistakes by Bryant and Kevin Ogletree. Who are the Cowboys wide receivers? They are the head case Dez Bryant, injury prone Miles Austin and erratic, one good game a season Ogletree. How about Bryant's two big drops, although I really am trying hard not to pile on. Who is their head coach? Jason Garrett? Really that's the best Dallas can do? After his disastrous stint so far, do you think Garrett will get another head coaching job? Either do I? I'd be surprised if he even is hired as an offensive coordinator as well. (Wade Phillips is a terrible head coach. After he got fired by the Cowboys, he's gone on to be a great defensive coordinator for the Texans. However he's a much better coordinator than Garrett.) Who is their defensive coordinator? Rob Ryan. With the Jets about to fall under .500 this Monday, I think the Ryan brothers are getting exposed. I don't think either brother will be with their current team next season. Well maybe Rob will, because Jones only cares about his team making money.

Jerry here's a little heads up, your team will finish this season with about a 8-8 record again. Also the Cowboys will be hard pressed to make the playoffs this season. But here's some good news Jerry, thanks to your son-in-law your glasses will be clean.

Don't feel bad for Jerry, he could care less if the Cowboys win. He's laughing all the way to the bank. He's not be a football man, but he knows how to make money. If Jones really cared how the Cowboys did, don't you think he would have made some significant changes by now. Since Jimmy Johnson quit/ was forced out the Cowboys have had only one great head coach. Bill Parcells was on the downhill side of a Hall-of-Fame career. I'll believe that Jones really cares about the Cowboys winning when he fires their current GM. (Jerry Jones is the Cowboys current GM.) That and the next GM doesn't have the last name of Jones. I'll believe that Jones really cares about the Cowboys winning when they get a quarterback upgrade.

I know that people get sick of me talking and writing about this. I understand as I've got sick of writing about Cowboys mediocrity. I remember the good old days when the Cowboys actually use to be a relevant NFL team. I truly understand about the Raiders and wanting a new owner.
