How Will Carmelo Anthony Do On The Meads Metric Tonight?, $23.6 A Year For Dwight Howard: Is That A Joke?

Hello,

The second most overrated player in the NBA, Carmelo Anthony, and his Knicks play again tonight. I suggest that Dwight Howard is the most overrated player in the NBA. Anthony is better because he can get his own shot and actually is a decent free throw shooter. However sometimes Anthony getting his own shot could be a bad thing for the Knicks. That's because Howard is an unrepentent shooter. And like his 10 for 35 shooting against the Celtics on Sunday, we see that he keeps on shooting even when he's having a terrible game.

I wonder how Anthony will do on the Meads Metric tonight? Again the Meads Metric is adding all free throws and field goal attempts in a game for a total. For each one of those shots a player should score at least a point a shot. With 55 field goal attempts and free throws total, scoring 36 points isn't impressive. On Sunday, Anthony took 55 total shots and only scored 36 points. He also missed 10 of his last 14 shots. That's one bad thing about the modern hype machine is that they only note how many points a player scores. Rarely do they note how many shots it took to get those points. Also that hype machine didn't note Anthony's 7 turnovers.

But against the Celtics it doesn't matter. I expect the Knicks to ride their home crowd to an easy victory over the Celtics tonight. It's much more likely that the Knicks will win that Anthony meets the Meads Metric. Tonight the Knicks will finally win a series. The second round will be a much tougher challenge for the Knicks though as they'll be playing the Pacers. While the Pacers probably aren't the defensive team the Celtics are, the Pacers can score. Of course it doesn't really matter as the Heat will dominate either in the Eastern Conference Finals.

It seems the 2013-2014 Lakers will look very similar to the 2012-2013 Lakers. Following the Lakers disastrous season this past year, why would the Lakers want to bring back nearly the same team? Most everyone will be a year older and their skills will have deteriorated by a year. However Howard should be fully recovered from his injury and in the prime of his career. It makes me laugh how Howard is portraying himself as an iron man this past season. LA still won't be a great defensive team. I don't want to say this Lakers team is old but maybe next year they can start doing advertisements for Geritol.

Oh yeah and can the Lakers please bring back Mike D'Antoni as head coach? Next season he would be their coach for the full season and that way he can really screw them up. It's not a matter of if, it's only a matter of when D'Antoni will be fired next season. The man just isn't meant to be a head coach unless he can run his system the way he wants to.

I'm loving the fact that the Lakers are seriously considering offering Howard $118 million for 5 years. That would be $23.6 million a year for each of the 5 years. Howard is only about Howard and the Lakers can pay him more than any other team. Due to that I can almost guarantee that Howard will sign with the Lakers. He says he wants to "get away from everything and focus on me and making the decision for me".  When isn't Howard focusing on only him? He says he's going to spend a couple of weeks thinking about where he wants to play.

Wouldn't Howard working on his free throws be a much better use of his time? And double bonus for you Dwight, you can think and shoot free throws at the same time. If Howard raised his free throw percentage to 70%, Lakers fans would actually want him to get fouled. Then Howard could have 16 for 20 nights like Anthony did the other night.

I don't know if life as a Lakers hater can get any better.

There are two NBA playoff series that are boring me to death. I mean other than Bulls and Nets fans, who really cares about that series? The winner of that series "gets" to play the Heat, a team that will demolish either. Also the Grizzilies-Clippers series is yawn worthy. Although that series is more note worthy because the Thunder without Russell Westbrook is all of a sudden a lot more vulnerable.

Although I'm pretty sure it's going to be a Heat-Spurs NBA Finals.
