Dodgers Daily, May 2nd, 2013: How Long Can The Dodgers Stick With Josh Beckett?

Hello,

I just want to mention that Hannah Storm looked amazing again today. She hosted SportsCenter in a form fitting red dress and looked absolutely ravishing. She's easily one of the most beautiful women currently appearing on TV anywhere.

Wednesday night was the last game of a 3 game series between the Dodgers and Rockies. Colorado went into Dodgers Stadium and took 2 of 3 games. Winning a series on another team's home field is one of the things that separate the first place Rockies from the 4th place Dodgers.

Something that hurts the Dodgers is that every 5th day they have to send Josh Beckett to the mound. I was nervous about the Dodgers chances of winning last night with Beckett pitching. Sadly I had the right to be worried. Beckett gave up 3 runs in the first inning on his way to another much less than dominant outing. Beckett only pitched 4 innings, he gave up 5 hits and 5 runs. 4 of those runs were earned. Beckett is now 0-4 and and has a 5.24 ERA.

How long can the Dodgers keep on sending Beckett to the mound before they start seeking other options? I previously detailed how the Dodgers are already short on starting pitching. But don't they have someone in Albuquerque or Chattanooga that could be more effective than 0-4 and a 5+ ERA?

Maybe this wouldn't be quite the concern if the Dodgers were a better offensive team. However once a team scores 4 runs, they have about a 70-80% chance of beating the Dodgers. In fact if the Rockies scored 4 runs in each of their three games against the Dodgers they also would have won 2 of 3. Even with Hanley Ramirez back and playing fairly well, the Dodgers still need at least one more bat in their lineup.

Speaking of Chattanooga: What the hell was Yasiel Puig doing to get pulled over by the police? Come on Yasiel, be much smarter than that. You can do whatever you want in your personal life, unless you break the law or put someone else's life in danger. You did both of those things with your bad driving choices.

Upcoming: the Dodgers have Thursday off before they start a 3 game series against the Giants in San Francisco. How will the Dodgers do against the NL West's second place team? I actually have confidence in the Dodgers for the first game of the series as Clayton Kershaw is pitching Friday night. Also Dodgers-Giants will be the Sunday Night Baseball game. Sunday night's pitching matchup is scheduled to be Hyun-Jin Ryu vs. Matt Cain. If the Dodgers can muster a decent amount of runs Friday and Sunday, it's possible they could win 2 of 3 against the Giants.
