Dodgers Daily May 8th, 2013: Dodgers Lose 7 Games In A Row, Poor Vin Scully

Hello,

The Dodgers lost their 7th straight game on Wednesday. If the Dodgers can't even win when Killer Clayton Kershaw is pitching then there truly is little hope for this Dodgers season. This is the second home series the Dodgers have been swept so far this season.

Poor Vin Scully for having to suffer through:

- The Dodgers losing 7 straight and 8 of 9 games.
- Another anemic offensive outing, the Dodgers only scored 2 runs. I say this with no disrespect but what does it say about the Dodgers when Nick Punto is their hottest hitter?
- Clayton Kershaw, who lowered his ERA from 1.66 to 1.62, can't get his 4th win.
- Pitchers who can't get the crucial out.
- Zack Greinke, who's getting paid $21 million, gets into a stupid fight and is injured. With the Dodgers having so many pitching issues this season, the fact Greinke was hurt in a needless fight is shameful.
- A starting pitcher, Josh Beckett, who's being paid $17 million this season but who is 0-4 and has a 5.13 ERA.
- A closer, Brandon League, who's being paid $5.5 million this season but is 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA.
- A player I have never heard of, Paul Goldschmidt, comes into Dodgers Stadium and hit 4 homers in 3 games. If he played for the Dodgers he'd be the second leading Dodger home run hitter. That's only after 3 games! Goldschmidt hit home runs in Dodgers Stadium on Monday, Tuesday and two on Wednesday. In 3 games he's hit more home runs than every Dodger except for Carl Crawford.
- A team that's 13-20 and trails the Padres! by 2.5 games. The Dodgers also have the 6th worse record in the MLB.

I posted yesterday that the Dodgers play on Thursday, May 9th. Thankfully I was wrong. The Dodgers get a much needed day off before playing 6 more home games. Dodgers Stadium hasn't given much of a home field advantage so far this season as LA is only 7-11 at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers then open a 3 game series with the Miami Marlins, a team with even a worse record than them. But let's be honest the Marlins had no expectations going into this season and also the Marlins payroll is about $177 million less than LAs this season.

The Dodgers then play the struggling Nationals, although they are still 18-15 and actually in the playoff race. The Dodgers "only" have a $114 million more in payroll than Washington.
